AB  - In the past few decades, demountable connectors have often been used for
connections in composite and mixed steel-concrete structures to reduce
construction time and costs. Furthermore, the application of demountable
connectors enables the reuse of structural elements in these structures, which leads
to sustainable design and a circular economy. In this paper, the demountable
connector is made out of two parts: (1) mechanical coupler and rebar anchor placed
in formwork before casting the concrete element, and (2) steel bolt used for
connecting steel to the RC element. Although this connector is increasingly being
used in contemporary building structures, its behaviour in composite connections is
still insufficiently defined. The paper presents the results of experimental tests and
numerical analysis of the connector with a mechanical coupler, focusing on the local
behaviour of the tapered threaded connection between the mechanical coupler and
rebar anchor.

AB  - The construction industry is one of the most important parts of economic development of society but it
also has a very negative impact on the environment. Using the three concepts of circular economy: reuse,
reduce and recycle, it is possible to decrease its negative impact. The steel-concrete composite structures
and prefabricated structures enable, environmentally beneficial, circular life-cycle of buildings. For
structural performance during the lifecycle, it is very important to have an adequate connection between
the steel and reinforced concrete members.
Different types of connectors have been widely used in composite structures. Demountable ones are
advantageous in terms of reuse. In the last few years, the innovative demountable steel-concrete bolted
connector with mechanical coupler has been proposed. There are two types of these bolted connectors
depending on the type anchorage i.e., with the rebar anchor or with the second bolt.
This paper gives an overview of previous research of bolted connectors with mechanical coupler
capacity under static load. Influence of key parameters on the shear behaviour of the connector was
observed: concrete compressive strength, connector dimensions and concrete edge distance. The shear
and tension resistances of individual parts of the commercially available connectors were determined
using recommendations of design codes and technical documentation. In case of the connector loaded
in tension, it was concluded that the resistance is governed by the resistance of the rebar anchor. In case
of the connector loaded in shear, design recommendations were also compared with the previous
experimental tests. It was concluded that the shear resistance highly depends on the connection layout
and concrete strength.

AB  - Postrojenje odsumporavanja dimnih gasova u Termoelektrani Nikola Tesla A (TENT A) u Srbiji,
predstavlja jedan od najznačajnijih projekata u domenu zaštite životne sredine na Balkanu,
namenjen stabilizaciji koncentracije gasova sa efektom staklene bašte i prevenciji negativnih
antropogenih uticaja na klimatski sistem. Građevinski fakultet Univerziteta u Beogradu
učestvovao je u izradi projektne dokumentacije ključnih objekata postrojenja odsumporavanja u
TENT A. U ovom radu prikazano je projektno rešenje i opisane konstrukcijske specifičnosti
noseće hibridne konstrukcije Silosa gipsa namenjen dopremi i skladištenju krečnjaka.

AB  - U radu je dat prikaz metodologije ispitivanja i ocene stanja betonskih konstrukcija koja se koristi u savremenoj građevinskoj praksi. Poseban akcenat stavljen je na postupke ispitivanja kvaliteta ugrađenog betona, u skladu sa važećom Evropskom tehničkom regulativom. Dat je prikaz destruktivnih i nedestruktivnih postupaka ispitivanja koji se najčešće koriste u praksi, kao i principi dobijanja zavisnosti između rezultata indirektnih ispitivanja i čvrstoće betona pri pritisku.

AB  - U radu je prikazana sanacija temelja spomenika "Beogradski Pobednik", koja je imala za cilj da
se zaustavi neravnomerno sleganje postojećeg temelja i dalje naginjanje vrha stuba spomenika u
stranu. Sanacija je izvršena izvođenjem bušenih šipova. U okviru rada prikazano je i spcifično
rešenje oslanjanja figure na vrhu stuba spomenika, dizajnirano tako da, uz zadovoljenje nosivosti
i stabilnosti, omogući brzu i efikasnu montažu.

AB  - Predmet rada predstavlja analiza dva različita modela dimenzionisanja i utezanja krajeva
armiranobetonskih zidova složenih poprečnih preseka, koji se sastoje od spojenih odnosno
ukrštenih pravouganoih segmenata. U prvom modelu, zidovi su razmatrani kao integralni
elementi složenog preseka sa rebrima i flanšama, prema uputstvima Evrokoda 8. U drugom
modelu, zidovi su tretirani kao skupovi nezavisnih pravougaonih delova. Analizirani su zidovi
„I” i „T” poprečnih preseka, uzimajući u obzir uticaj momenta nosivosti na zahtevani nivo
duktilnosti zidova. Razlika u pomenutim modelima, sa aspekta oblikovanja detalja za lokalnu
duktilnost, ogleda se u rasporedu, dužini i zahtevanim nivoima utezanja ivičnih elemenata
armiranobetonskih zidova.

AB  - Contemporary design and construction of steel-concrete composite structures employs the use of prefabricated concrete elements and demountable shear connectors in order to reduce the construction time and costs and enable dismantling of elements for their potential reuse at the end of life of buildings. Bolted shear connector with mechanical coupler is presented in this paper. The connector is assembled from mechanical coupler and rebar anchor, embedded in concrete, and steel bolt, used for connecting steel to concrete members. The behaviour and ultimate resistance of bolted connector with mechanical coupler in wide and narrow members were analysed based on push-out tests and FE analyses conducted in Abaqus software, with focus on concrete edge breakout and bolt shear failure modes. The effect of concrete strength, concrete edge distance and diameter and strength of bolts on failure modes and shear resistance was analysed. It was demonstrated that premature failure by breakout of concrete edge occurs when connectors are located 100 mm or closer from the edge in low-strength and normal-strength reinforced concrete. Furthermore, the paper presents a relatively simple model for hand calculation of concrete edge breakout resistance when bolted connectors with mechanical coupler are used. The model is based on the modification of prediction model used for cast-in and post-installed anchors loaded parallel to the edge, by implementing equivalent influence length of connector with variable diameter. Good agreement with test and FE results was obtained, thus confirming the validity of the proposed method.

AB  - Different types of shear connectors, which are used for achievement of steel-concrete
composite action, have been developed during decades. Their suitability for various range
of structures and loadings is determined by shear resistance, ductility of shear connectors, obtained failure mechanisms and fatigue resistance. Headed studs are widely used for composite
construction of buildings and bridges. Perforated shear connectors, mechanically fastened shear
connectors or bolted shear connectors with mechanical couplers are alternative solution for
achievement of composite action between steel and concrete. Results of experimental and numerical  analysis of these types of shear connectors are used for comparative analysis and presented in this paper. Presented analysis included comparison of stiffness and different failure mechanisms for these types of shear connections, with focus on the ductility at different load levels. Besides, results are compared with recommendation given in EN 1994-1-1 for ductile shear connectors.

AB  - The research of shear connectors composed from mechanical couplers with rebar anchors, embedded in concrete, and steel bolts, as a mean of shear transfer in composite connections is presented in the paper. Specific issues related to this type of connections are local concrete pressure in the connector vicinity as well as the shear flow along the connector axis. The experimental research included 18 specimens, arranged in 5 series. Nonlinear numerical analyses using Abaqus software was conducted on corresponding FE models. Different failure modes were analysed, with emphasis on concrete edge failure and bolt shear failure. The influence of key parameters on the behaviour of shear connector was examined: (1) concrete compression strength, (2) bolt tensile strength and diameter and (3) concrete edge distance. It is concluded that bolted shear connectors with mechanical couplers have sufficient capacity to be used as shear connectors in composite structures and that their behaviour is similar to the behaviour of post installed anchors as well as other types of connectors anchored without the head.

AB  - The monitoring of civil and geotechnical structures requires a variety of different measurement tasks that require different types of sensing systems. Fiber optic sensors can be used in a variety of applications and many sensor types exist. When measuring strain and deformations, among the most important structural performance indicators, different approaches are possible: point, long-gauge and distributed. This contribution discusses the types of applications that benefit more from each type of sensor and provides application examples from real-life projects. This paper has presented and explained what are the benefits of Structural Health Monitoring of aged infrastructure. Implementation of sensors for Structural Health Monitoring in 2 relevant projects on Bridge infrastructures was explained and measurement results were presented. The necessity of proper asset management strategy in Serbia was elaborated, together with benefits and arguments for Asset management Strategy.

AB  - U radu je prikazan primer proračuna ojačanja pretežno aksijalno napregnutog
kvadratnog stuba dobetoniranjem u kružnoj čeličnoj cevi. Prikazan je proračun
efekata utezanja na povećanje čvrstoće betona na pritisak. Razmatrani su uslovi
vezani za nosivost i maksimalne napone pritiska, propisani u tehničkoj regulativi, sa

AB  - Different systems for mechanical rebar splicing, as a contemporary method which in certain situations may have advantage over usual rebar splicing by overlapping or welding, is presented in this paper. Relevant international standards for testing and quality confirmation of mechanical rebar splicing systems are considered. Also, laboratory testing results of Lenton couplers, performed in the Laboratory for materials at the Faculty of Civil engineering in Belgrade in order to prove the load bearing ability of these couplers, are presented. Intensive development in production and application of mechanical rebar splicing systems, the scope of research in this area, as well as the publication of international standards prescribing requirements and procedures for quality confirmation, represent a very good base for development of the corresponding technical regulation in Serbia.
AB  - U radu su prikazani različiti sistemi mehaničkog nastavljanja armature, kao savremenog postupka koji u određenim situacijama ima prednost u odnosu na klasično nastavljanje armature preklapanjem ili zavarivanjem. Razmatrani su i aktuelni standardi za ispitivanje i dokaz kvaliteta sistema za mehaničko nastavljanje armature. Takođe, prikazani su i rezultati laboratorijskog ispitivanja spojnica sistema Lenton, obavljenog u okviru Laboratorije za materijale Građevinskog fakulteta u Beogradu, u cilju provere nosivosti predmetnih spojnica. Intenzivan razvoj proizvodnje i primene mehaničkog nastavljanja armature u svetu, obim istraživanja u ovoj oblasti, kao i internacionalni standardi koji propisuju zahteve vezane za kvalitet i procedure dokaza kvaliteta, predstavljaju veoma dobru osnovu za razvoj odgovarajuće tehničke regulative u ovoj oblasti i u Srbiji.

AB  - Design and construction of masonry building extension in seismic active regions, based on fundamental principles is considered in this paper. Basic principles of modeling, design and construction of elements, as well as the principal methods of foundations, vertical and horizontal elements strengthening is presented. It is concluded that masonry buildings extension issues are not entirely covered by technical norms. It is essential to comprehend and analyze existing structural system and building condition before reaching the structure extension decision, and to apply engineering principles in design and construction procedures.
AB  - U radu se razmatra projektovanje i izvođenje nadogradnje zidanih objekata u seizmičkim područjima, polazeći od osnovnih principa. Navedeni su osnovni principi modeliranja, proračuna i konstruisanja elemenata, kao i osnovni načini ojačanja temelja, vertikalnih i horizontalnih elemenata konstrukcije. Konstatovano je da problematika nadogradnje, način i obim ojačanja elemenata zidanih konstrukcija nije u potpunosti definisana tehničkom regulativom. Prilikom donošenja odluke o mogućnosti nadogradnje zidanih objekata neophodno je sagledati i analizirati postojeći konstrukcijski sistem i stanje objekta, a prilikom izvođenja nadogradnje i ojačanja primeniti inženjerske principe pri postupaku projektovanja i izgradnje.

AB  - Savremenu primenu spregnutih konstrukcija od armiranobetonskih i čeličnih elemenata prate intenzivna istraţivanja njihovih meĎusobnih veza. Istovremeno, nova tehnološka rešenja, vezana za pojednostavljenje oplate i povećanje brzine betoniranja, donose sve širu upotrebu armaturnih mehaničkih spojnica, pre svega za nastavljanje armature, ali i kao jedan od načina za vezu armiranobetonskih i čeličnih elemenata. Osnovni cilj istraţivanja u okviru ove teze je da se ispita mogućnost i način primene konektora formiranih od mehaničke spojnice sa armaturnim ankerom, ugraĎenih u armiranobetonski element, i čeličnog zavrtanja, za prenos sila smicanja u okviru spoja čeličnog i armiranobetonskog elementa u spregnutoj konstrukciji. Posebno se kod ovakvih spojeva ističu problemi lokalnog naprezanja betona u zoni spoja, kao i problemi vezani za prenos sila smicanja, odnosno sila upravnih na pravac mehaničkih spojnica. Nakon izvršenog detaljnog istraţivanja savremene naučnoistraţivačke i stručne literature u oblasti smičućih veza u spregnutim konstrukcijama, u okviru ove teze su izvršena eksperimentalna, numerička i teorijska istraţivanja granične nosivosti i ponašanja smičućih konektora sa mehaničkom spojnicom i armaturnim ankerom. Eksperimentalna ispitivanja su sprovedena na 18 uzoraka, rasporeĎenih u 5 serija. Numerička nelinearna analiza u programu ABAQUS sprovedena je na 28 numeričkih modela u konačnim elementima, prethodno kalibrisanih prema rezultatima eksperimentalnih isptivanja. U okviru ovih istraţivanja je pokazano da se smičući konektori sa mehaničkom spojnicom i armaturnim ankerom, sa aspekta nosivosti, mogu koristiti kao elementi smičućih spojeva u spregnutim konstrukcijama, i da se njihovo ponašanje moţe uporediti sa ponašanjem naknadno ugraĎenih ankera i ostalih ankera koji se ne sidre glavom. Na osnovu rezultata istraţivanja je zaključeno da granična nosivost ispitivanog smičućeg konektora po betonu u blizini ivice, moţe biti odredjena korišćenjem izraza za odreĎivanja iste nosivosti za naknadno ugraĎene ankere, opterećene paralelno sa betonom, uz prethodno odreĎivanje efektivne duţine zamenjujućeg konektora sa mehaničkom spojnicom konstantnog poprečnog preseka...
AB  - Contemporary structures composed from reinforced concrete and steel elements use is followed by intensive research of their interconnection. Simultaneously, new technologies, regarding the simplification of formwork and concreting speed increase, are bringing mechanical couplers into the wider use, firstly as rebar splices, than as a mean of the connection between reinforced concrete and steel elements in composite structures. The main research goal within the theses is to investigate the possibilities and ways of use of the connectors composed from mechanical couplers with rebar anchors, embedded in concrete, and steel bolts, as a mean of shear transfer in composite structures connections. Specific issues related to this type of connections are local concrete pressure in the connector vicinity, as well as the sear flow along the connector axes. After detailed reviewing of the state of the art regarding shear connectors in composite structures, experimental, numerical and theoretical research on the shear connectors composed from mechanical couplers and rebar anchors resistance and behavior were conducted within this theses. The experimental research was conducted on 18 specimens, arranged in 5 series. Nonlinear numerical analyses, using ABAQUS software, was conducted on 28 numerical models in finite elements, after calibration with the experimental research results. The research resulted in conclusion that the shear connectors composed from mechanical couplers and rebar anchors have sufficient capacity to be used as shear connectors in composite structures, and that their behavior is similar to behavior of post installed anchors, as well as other types of connectors anchored without the head. Based in the research results, it can be concluded that the concrete edge breakout capacity of the investigated connectors subjected to the shear load parallel to the edge can be calculated using the formula for post installed anchors, after determining the effective length of the corresponding constant diameter shear connector with mechanical coupler. The original formula for determining of this length, as a function of coupler and rebar anchor diameter, as well as the concrete compressionstrength, was developed within this thesis...

AB  - The design procedure of capacity and ductility on the concrete columns with circular cross section depending on the amount of the confining reinforcement is presented in this paper. The stress-strain model in which the longitudinal compressive strain of the concrete at failure is corresponding to the first fracture of the transverse reinforcement, is presented. The cross section capacity and the ductility factor corresponding to the longitudinal force and stirup distance is analyzed. Use of the similar design procedure on concrete-filled steel tubular columns and in strengthening of columns using still straps or FRP is possible.

AB  - Different mechanical rebar splicing systems are presented, and design situations where mechanical splicing has advantage over reinforcement splicing by overlapping and welding are defined in this paper. New international standards for testing and proof of systems for mechanical rebar splicing quality are considered. Mechanical splicing system for rebar and bolt connection, usable in steel and reinforced concrete structural elements connections, is presented in this paper. There are only few examples of mechanical rebar splicing in our country. The most significant one - the pylon and beam connection at Ada Bridge in Belgrade is presented in the paper. Intensive development of production and use of mechanical rebar splicing systems, research in this area, as well as the publication of international standards prescribing requirements for quality and procedures for proof of quality, represent very good base for development of the corresponding technical norms in Serbia. The legislation in this area would quicken proof of quality procedures, attest and approval issuing for individual products, leading to wider use of this system in all situations where it is in advantage over the classical reinforcement splicing.
AB  - U radu su prikazani različiti sistemi mehaničkog nastavljanja armature i definisane neke od situacija kada mehaničko nastavljanje ima prednost u odnosu na nastavljanje armature preklapanjem i zavarivanjem. Razmatrani su novi internacionalni standardi za ispitivanje i dokaz kvaliteta sistema za mehaničko nastavljanje armature. U radu je prikazan i sistem mehaničkih spojnica za povezivanje zavrtnja i armaturnog ankera, koji se može koristiti za vezu čeličnog i armiranobetonskog elementa. Malobrojni su primeri primene mehaničkog nastavljanja armature u našoj zemlji. Jedan od značajnijih - veza pilona i grede Mosta na Adi u Beogradu - prikazan je u radu. Intenzivan razvoj proizvodnje i primene mehaničkog nastavljanja armature u svetu, istraživanja u ovoj oblasti, kao i internacionalni standardi koji propisuju zahteve u vezi s kvalitetom i procedurom dokaza kvaliteta, predstavljaju osnovu za razvoj odgovarajuće tehničke regulative u ovoj oblasti i u Srbiji, čime bi se proširila primena ovih sistema u svim situacijama kada oni predstavljaju bolje rešenje u odnosu na klasične načine nastavljanja armature. .

abstract = "Different mechanical rebar splicing systems are presented, and design situations where mechanical splicing has advantage over reinforcement splicing by overlapping and welding are defined in this paper. New international standards for testing and proof of systems for mechanical rebar splicing quality are considered. Mechanical splicing system for rebar and bolt connection, usable in steel and reinforced concrete structural elements connections, is presented in this paper. There are only few examples of mechanical rebar splicing in our country. The most significant one - the pylon and beam connection at Ada Bridge in Belgrade is presented in the paper. Intensive development of production and use of mechanical rebar splicing systems, research in this area, as well as the publication of international standards prescribing requirements for quality and procedures for proof of quality, represent very good base for development of the corresponding technical norms in Serbia. The legislation in this area would quicken proof of quality procedures, attest and approval issuing for individual products, leading to wider use of this system in all situations where it is in advantage over the classical reinforcement splicing., U radu su prikazani različiti sistemi mehaničkog nastavljanja armature i definisane neke od situacija kada mehaničko nastavljanje ima prednost u odnosu na nastavljanje armature preklapanjem i zavarivanjem. Razmatrani su novi internacionalni standardi za ispitivanje i dokaz kvaliteta sistema za mehaničko nastavljanje armature. U radu je prikazan i sistem mehaničkih spojnica za povezivanje zavrtnja i armaturnog ankera, koji se može koristiti za vezu čeličnog i armiranobetonskog elementa. Malobrojni su primeri primene mehaničkog nastavljanja armature u našoj zemlji. Jedan od značajnijih - veza pilona i grede Mosta na Adi u Beogradu - prikazan je u radu. Intenzivan razvoj proizvodnje i primene mehaničkog nastavljanja armature u svetu, istraživanja u ovoj oblasti, kao i internacionalni standardi koji propisuju zahteve u vezi s kvalitetom i procedurom dokaza kvaliteta, predstavljaju osnovu za razvoj odgovarajuće tehničke regulative u ovoj oblasti i u Srbiji, čime bi se proširila primena ovih sistema u svim situacijama kada oni predstavljaju bolje rešenje u odnosu na klasične načine nastavljanja armature. .",
