AB  - Implementation of demountable beams in steel-concrete composite floors enables
structure reuse during several life cycles, consequently leading to savings in material
consumption and reduction of emissions, providing overall ecological benefits.
The behaviour of the innovative demountable beam with a shear connection consisting
of headed studs and bolts is analysed in this paper. The proposed beam is
formed of a steel profile and a steel-concrete composite slab cast in open trough
profiled steel sheeting. Headed studs, welded to the additional steel angles, are
placed in sheeting ribs, whereas bolts are installed between ribs, connecting the
steel angles and profile flange. A numerical FE model of a full-scale steel-concrete
composite beam has been developed to analyse the beam behaviour under service
loads. Experimental results of push-out tests have been used to describe the loadslip
behaviour of headed studs, whereas bolt response has been simulated according
to the experimental investigations of lap joints with preloaded bolts and oversize
holes. The parametric study has been conducted by varying the bolt diameter, grade
and bolt hole size. The results have validated the applicability of the proposed system,
confirming the fulfilment of serviceability limit state requirements.

Experimental study of laser-welded stainless steel angle columns

AB  - Substantial research has been conducted in the last years into the structural responses of cold-formed and hot-rolled stainless steel equal-leg angle columns, whereas there is no experimental data on laser-welded stainless steel angle columns despite these sections being increasingly used in the modern construction industry. To fill this gap and provide benchmarks for design, a comprehensive experimental investigation into the structural strength and stability of laser-welded austenitic stainless steel equal-leg angle columns under pure axial compression was performed and described in this paper. A series of laboratory tests, performing on two test groups of specimens with nominal dimensions of 60 × 60 × 6 mm and 100 × 100 × 10 mm and different lengths, involved 6 stub column tests and 20 global buckling tests together with measurements on material properties, initial local geometric imperfections and residual stresses. The experimental observations reveal that the column ultimate capacity and prevalent failure mode — major-axis flexural-torsional buckling and minor-axis flexural buckling — are highly dependent on the column slenderness and initial imperfections. The full load-lateral displacement, load-torsional rotation and load-axial strain responses of the specimens were fully reported and discussed. The results were employed to evaluate the accuracy of the current European and North American stainless steel design standards. The evaluation results revealed that the codified design procedures yield conservative resistance predictions of laser-welded stainless steel equal-leg angle columns, showing a prospective for their modification and improvement by providing more optimized and realistic results in design considering the actual residual stress distributions, material nonlinearity and strain hardening.

Experimental investigation of preload losses in high strength bolts under cyclic loading

AB  - Slip-resistant shear connections with preloaded bolts have traditionally been used in steel
structures exposed to cyclic. Hence, shear load is transferred through friction surfaces
rather than through contact between the bolt surface and the hole. The main influencing
parameters determining slip resistance of the connection are the friction between contact
surfaces and the bolt preload level. This paper presents an experimental study of preloaded
bolted connections under cyclic load, the main objective being to investigate the influence
of cyclic load on the losses of preload force in high strength bolts and lock bolts.

Uticaj podužnog krovnog sprega na dužinu izvijanja glavnih stubova industrijske hale

AB  - Rad prikazuje parametarsku analizu izvijanja uklještenih stubova industrijske hale uzimajući u 
obzir  i  postojanje  podužnog  krovnog  sprega.  Primenom  LBA  (Linear  Buckling  Analysis)  u 
prostornom  modelu  čelične  konstrukcije  određena  je  najpre  kritična  sila  izvijanja,  a  zatim  i 
koeficijent dužine izvijanja glavnih stubova industrijske hale. Analizom je obuhvaćeno osam 
različitih dispozicionih rešenja industrijske hale u smislu položaja podužnog krovnog sprega i 
vertikalnog sprega u kalkanu. U okviru svakog dispozicionog rešenja varirana je dužina hale. 
Razmatran je slučaj kada se spregovi projektuju tako da njihova ispuna može da prihvati  pritisak 
i zatazanje, kao i slučaj kada spreg čini ispuna koja prihvata samo sile zatezanja. Prikazana je 
vrednost  koeficijenta  dužine  izvijanja  glavnih  stubova  industrijske  hale  u  funkciji  uticajnih 
parametara.
AB  - This paper presents a parametric analysis of flexural buckling of cantilever columns of industrial 
hall with longitudinal roof bracing. Linear Buckling Analysis - LBA was performed in 3D hall 
model to determine critical buckling load and buckling coefficient of the main columns. The 
analysis included eight different industrial hall layouts in terms of longitudinal roof bracing and 
gable end bracing positions. Within each layout, the hall length was varied. Two cases of bracing 
structural behaviour were considered: bracing diagonals that can be loaded both in tension and 
compression and diagonals that can only be loaded in tension. Buckling coefficient values of the 
main columns of the industrial hall are presented in function of influencing parameters.

AB  - This paper presents the experimental programme of an extensive research project that deals with analysing the behaviour of compressed stainless steel columns with equal angle sections. The research focuses on different material and geometrical parameters of pin-ended angle columns produced from austenitic and lean-duplex stainless steel alloys. To assess the influences of initial imperfections on column compressive resistance caused by different manufacturing procedures, three types of angle products are included: cold-formed, hot-rolled and laser-welded sections. In order to obtain both elastic and inelastic ultimate responses, including flexural and torsional-flexural buckling modes, the lengths and cross-section geometries of specimens are selected to cover non-slender sections and slender sections covering the entire wide slenderness range. The experimental programme covers all relevant tests: 15 tensile coupon tests, 15 stub-column tests, 48 overall buckling tests on slender columns and 2 residual stress
tests, including measurements of initial geometric imperfections. The purpose of these experiments is to provide a reliable database to determine design rules for angle members and extend the scope of procedures currently codified in EN 1993-1-4 (2015), not only to conventional angle profiles, but also to contemporary products such as laser-welded angles.

AB  - Nowadays, the codified procedure for design of centrically compressed cold-formed stainless steel (CFSS) builtup members is absent in Europe. Besides, there are no published research information and experimental data in this structural area. This paper focuses on a comprehensive experimental investigation of closely spaced CFSS built-up columns and addresses their flexural buckling capacity about the minor principal axis. Two series with a total of 36 built-up members were assembled, each formed by two discontinuously and directly connected channel chords oriented back-to-back to form an I-section. The chords were press-braked from flat strips of austenitic stainless steel EN 1,4301 as non-slender channel sections. The chords were uniformly interconnected by bolts or by welds. To identify the effects of interconnection spacing on chords' composite action, the overall and chord slenderness ratios were varied. Material properties, cross-section response and initial imperfections were quantified before testing. As a result, the overall flexural buckling without any local-overall interactions was observed as the dominant failure mode. All findings were used in the accompanying paper [1] to establish qualitative data base through numerical simulations of flexural buckling tests. Additionally, a quantitative accuracy assessment of the design methods for carbon steel built-up columns provided in Eurocode and American Specification was reported on the basis of their ability to predict flexural buckling resistances of the tested columns. This enabled numerical parametric studies and proposing design rules for CFSS built-up columns with non-slender sections that capture interconnection shear stiffness, overall and chord slenderness ratio and strain hardening effects.

AB  - It is very important to protect steel structures against the influence of corrosion since it is one of the two biggest defects of steel structures. In addition to hot-dip galvanizing, coating is the most commonly used system for the protection of steel structures against corrosion. It is practically irreplaceable in cases where use of the hot-dip galvanizing is not possible. In this paper all relevant standards, with emphasis on SRPS EN ISO 12944 as most important for coatings usage, are shown. Terms of corrosivity categories, methods and preparation grades of steel surfaces, methods for coatings applying and measurement of their thickness, as well as which coatings type can be used for corrosion protection of steel structures are explained

AB  - Hot-dip galvanizing is one of the most commonly used systems for the corrosion protection of steel structures. In cases where there are no restrictions for the application of hot-dip galvanizing, this procedure is the most economical solution because it offers permanent protection against
corrosion that does not require maintenance during the structure’s exploitation. In this paper, we present the process of hot-dip galvanizing with an emphasis on its specificities, capabilities and limitations. Particular attention is paid to the process of preparing steel structures for hot-dip
galvanizing as well as describing the acceptable quality of the finished product. The paper presents the possibilities and capacities of all hot-dip galvanizing companies in Serbia and in the region.

AB  - Usage of zinc-silicate coatings as anti-corrosive protection of friction connections results in reduction of construction time and provides protection from corrosion. Such protection system has a number of advantages in respect to the widely implemented metallization procedure, prevalently in terms of speed of implementation, required training of the workforce and cost. In this paper were pre- sented friction coefficients for different systems of anti-corrosive protection of friction connections, with emphasis on the zinc-silicate coatings and their technical characteristics and implementation methods.
AB  - Primenom cink-silikatnih premaza kao antikorozione zaštite tarnih površina skraćuje se vreme izgradnje konstrukcija i obezbeđuje zaštita od korozije. Ovakav sistem zaštite ima niz prednosti u odnosu na široko primenjivan postupak metalizacije, pre svega u smislu brzine sprovođenja, zahtevane kvalifikovanosti radne snage i cene. U ovom radu prikazani su koeficijenti trenja za različite sisteme antikorozione zaštite tarnih spojeva, sa akcentom na cink-silikatne premaze i njihove tehničke karakteristike i način primene.

AB  - When applying high strength bolts in friction connections, a load-bearing capacity depends on pretension force in the bolts as well as on friction coefficient found on friction surfaces. It is important to get the reliable value of the pretension force, so friction connections often undergo experimental research. In order to use strain gauges, which are inserted into the bolt shank, bolts need to be calibrated before we even use them in experimental research. Research that has been conducted shows a great difference between nominal and experimental strain in bolts, therefore FEA calibration of the bolts had to be carried out. Good results matching were obtained, hence a use of strain gauges was justified even for bolts without a shank.
AB  - U slučaju smičućih spojeva s visokovrednim zavrtnjevima s punom silom prednaprezanja, nosivost spoja zavisi kako od intenziteta sile prednaprezanja u visokovrednom zavrtnju, tako i od koeficijenta trenja na tarnim površinama. Veoma je važno odrediti pouzdanu vrednost sile prednaprezanja u visokovrednim zavrtnjevima, pa su tarni spojevi često predmet eksperimentalnih istraživanja. Kako bi se za određivanje intenziteta sile prednaprezanja mogle koristiti merne trake ugrađene u telo zavrtnja, zavrtnjeve je neophodno kalibrisati pre početka njihove primene u eksperimentalnom istraživanju. Sprovedeno istraživanje pokazalo je veliku razliku između nominalnih i eksperimentalno određenih dilatacija zavrtnjeva, zbog čega je sprovedena kalibracija zavrtnjeva numeričkom analizom (primenom metode konačnih elemenata). Dobijeno je dobro poklapanje rezultata, a primena mernih traka kod zavrtnjeva koji imaju navoj celom dužinom tela takođe se pokazala kao opravdana.

AB  - Elastična fleksibilnost, odnosno krutost spojeva sa visokovrednim zavrtnjevima u direktnoj je vezi sa fenomenima koji zavise od promene debljine steznog paketa zavrtnja, pre svega sa gubicima sile prednaprezanja u visokovrednim zavrtnjevima. Postojeći izrazi za fleksibilnost spojeva sa visokovrednim zavrtnjevima jedini su način da se eksperimentalni i numerički rezultati potvrde i analitički. U ovom radu prikazani su izrazi za fleksibilnost spojeva sa visokovrednim zavrtnjevima, pregled istraživanja koja su zasnovana na ovim izrazima kao i numerički primer za spojeve sa visokovrednim zavrtnjevima izrađenim prema EN 14399-4.

AB  - Firma “Alcoa Fastening Systems” konstruisala je “Huck BobTail” sistem mehaničkih spojnih sredstava i predstavila ga kao jednu od najnaprednijih tehnologija spajanja do danas. U pitanju su zavrtnjevi sa zaključavanjem (antivandal) naredne generacije koji donose i do pet puta veću čvrstoću na zamor od standardnih zavrtnjeva sa navrtkom, a konstruisani su tako da pruže visoku čvrstoću, pouzdanost i otpornost na vibracije i u najekstremnijim uslovima. “Huck BobTail” spojna sredstva odlikuju visoke performance kao i jednostavna i brza ugradnja. U ovom radu prikazan je istorijski razvoj spojnih sredstava sa zaključavanjem. Detaljno je opisano spojno sredstvo sistema “Huck BobTail”, oprema i način njihove ugradnje u spojeve kao i način unošenja sile prednaprezanja. Prikazan je izvod iz postojećih predstandarda za proračun nosivosti spojnih sredstava sa zaključavanjem, sa posebnim akcentom na minimalna rastojanja između zavrtnjeva u spoju, nosivost spojnog sredstva na smicanje, pritisak po omotaču rupe i zatezanje.

AB  - The latest demands in construction design towards slender structures with large spans, large open interiors, unconventional shapes and constructional solutions are leading to the extensive problems related to the serviceability limit state. Slender structures with large spans have lower natural frequencies and lower natural damping, considerably influencing the dynamic response of the structure. Annoying vibrations induced by human activities can significantly affect the structure's functionality, comfort of people and quality of life. Design recommendations for composite steel-concrete floor vibrations can be found in different standards. This paper presents a short overview of design procedures for vibrations of composite steel-concrete beams and design recommendations of floor vibrations induced by human activities, through two design criteria.
AB  - Najnovije tendencije u građevinarstvu u pogledu projektovanja vitkih konstrukcija s velikim rasponima, velikim otvorenim unutrašnjim prostorima, nekonvencionalnim oblicima i konstrukcijskim rešenjima, često uzrokuju izražene probleme u pogledu graničnih stanja upotrebljivosti. Vitke konstrukcije velikih raspona - s niskim sopstvenim frekvencijama oscilovanja i sopstvenim koeficijentom prigušenja - značajno utiču na dinamički odgovor konstrukcije. Izražene vibracije međuspratnih konstrukcija, izazvane ljudskim aktivnostima, mogu veoma da utiču na funkcionalnost objekta, komfor ljudi i kvalitet života unutar objekta. Preporuke za projektovanje spregnutih konstrukcija, s ciljem zadovoljenja kriterijuma vibracija, mogu se naći u različitim standardima. U ovom radu dat je kratak prikaz proračuna spregnutih nosača na dejstvo vibracija, kao i preporuke za proračun vibracija izazvanih ljudskim aktivnostima, putem prikaza dva proračunska kriterijuma.

AB  - Continuous strength method is a contemporary approach to calculation of resistance of stainless steel cross-sections which has been recently developed at the Imperial College of London. The basis of the method is the continuous relation between the slenderness and strain capacity of a
cross-section, nonlinear relation between the stress and strain and the strengthening effects of cold forming. In the paper are presented the fundamental rules for calculation of cross-section resistance
according to continuous strength method; the comparative analysis of design resistance of the compressed cross-section was conducted through a numerical example according to this method and EN 1993-1-4.

AB  - Stainless steel is characterized by a number of features that determine significantly different behaviour of structural members made of this material, compared to equivalent carbon steel members. These characteristics, mostly expressed at compressed members, are reflected in nonlinear stress-
strain behaviour, significant strength enhancements due to cold-working and different thermal characteristic of material. European stainless steel standard EN 1993-1-4 does not give any explicit rules for calculation of resistance of built-up compression members with chords in contact. This paper presents part of the experimental results of flexural buckling ultimate resistance cold-formed built-up members to the around intangible axis. The basic material used in the research is stainless steel with austenitic microstructure 1.4301. Members are made of two C profiles, directly and discontinuously connected in direction of longitudinal axis. The experimental values of ultimate
resistances to flexural buckling around intangible axis are compared with values of ultimate resistances obtained by recommendations of EN 1993-1-4 and EN 1993-1-1

AB  - When analysing slip resistance connections, which are commonly used in-situ assemblied joints of structures dominantly loaded by cyclic loading, for example in bridges, telecommunication towers, towers for wind turbines, we may say that preloaded high strength bolts are their most important part. A level of pretension force in a bolt influences the strength of a slip resistance connection, therefore it is very important to attain a design level of a pretension force. This paper tackles most frequently used methods for measuring of a pretension force in high strength bolts both on site and in a laboratory. Primarily usage of ultrasonic methods, washer like load cells (with strain gauges and piezoelectric), strain gauges installed on the bolt shank and strain gauges installed inside of the bolt shank. The emphasis is both on a use of strain gauges which measure pretension force inhigh strength bolts and on a bolt calibration procedure prior to pretensioning. Installation process of strain gauges in the bolt shank is described in detail and all its specificities are bring to the attention based experimental research conducted on 126 bolts.

AB  - Tarni spojevi sa prednapregnutim zavrtnjevima imaju veliki značaj u oblastičeličnih konstrukcija, posebno u slučajevima konstrukcija izloženenih dejstvudinamičkog opterećenja, kao što su mostovi, kranski nosači, stubovi vetro generatora,itd. Dva parametra koji imaju najveći uticaj na nosivost ovakvih spojeva su koeficijenttrenja na tarnim površima i ostvarena sila prednaprezanja u visokovrednimzavrtnjevima.Potreba da se prate savremeni trendovi u građevinarstvu, posebno sa aspektanovih materijala, rezultovala je ispitivanjem spojeva, u okviru ovog istraživanja, koji suantikoroziono zaštićeni savremenim cink-silikatnim premazima. Korišćen jekomercijalni premaz „Resist 86“, proizvođača „Jotun“ iz Norveške. Veze su ostvareneuz pomoć klasičnih HV visokovrednih zavrtnjeva, ali i uz pomoć, u građevinarstvu svečešće primenjivanih, zavrtnjeva sa zaključavanjem tipa „Huck BobTail (HBT)“,proizvođača „Alcoa Fastening Systems“ iz Engleske. Na ovaj način, klasičan postupakzaštite tarnih površina metalizacijom zamenjuje se jeftinijim, jednostavnijim i bržimpostupkom nanošenja premaza. Takođe, ispitivana je i opravdanost primene zavrtnjevasa zaključavanjem u poređenju sa klasičnim pregnapregnutim zavrtnjevima. Međutim,primena novog materijala kao antikoroziоne zaštite tarnih površina otvara pitanjegubitaka sile prednaprezanja u zavrtnjevima jer je opšte poznato da dominantan deoovih gubitaka potiče od promene debljine sloja antikorozione zaštite kroz vreme.Sprovedeno istraživanje ima dva osnovna cilja: da proveri opravdanost primenepredmetnog premaza u tarnim spojevima, sa stanovišta ostvarenog koeficijenta trenja isa stanovišta gubitaka sile prednaprezanja.Sprovedena su sopstvena eksperimentalna istraživanja i ispitano je 126 zavrtnjevau okviru 42 uzorka spojeva sa dvostrukim preklopom. Eksperimentalno istraživanje jezbog svog obima i raznolikosti podeljeno u nekoliko faza:- Određivanje fizičko-mehaničkih svojstava primenjenih materijala. Ova fazapodrazumeva određivanje koeficijenta trenja koji se ostvaruje primenompredmetnog cink silikatnog premaza kao i fizičko mehaničkih svojstava (granicerazvlačenja i zatezne čvrstoće) materijala od kog su izrađeni primenjeni HV iHBT zavrtnjevi;- Određivanje debljine nanetog premaza na svaku od čeličnih ploča od kojih suformirani uzorci;- Kalibracija sile u zavrtnjeva. Kao najracionalniji ali i najefikasniji način zamerenje sile u zavrtnju izabran je postupak ugradnje mernih traka u telozavrtnjeva. Nakon ugradnje mernih traka, a pre ugradnje zavrtnjeva u uzorke,izvršena je njihova kalibracija i tako uspostavljena veza između promene dužinezavrtnja (merne trake) i sile u zavrtnju. Neki dragoceni zaključci o raspodeli sileunutar zavrnjeva su izvedeni na bazi ovih rezultata.- Centralni deo istraživanja u kojem je izvršeno kontinuirano praćenje promenesile u zavrtnjevima i to 60 nedelja za prvo ugrađenih 36 zavrtnjeva, odnosno 24nedelje za preostalih 72 zavrtnja i- Ispitivanje 6 uzoraka (18 zavrtnjeva) na dejstvo dinamičkog opterećenja tokom2x106 ciklusa.Uzorci su formirani na način da se obezbedi variranje: vrste zavrtnja (HV i HBT),dužine zavrtnja preko različite debljine steznog paketa (18 mm, 35 mm i 55 mm),debljine premaza (uzorci sa i bez premaza) i vrste opterećenja uzorka (bez spoljašnjegopterećenja na uzorke i uzorci izloženi dejstvu dinamičkog opterećenja).Dobijeni rezultati potvrđuju opravdanost primene predmetnog premaza u tarnimspojevima, sa obzirom da su određeni koeficijenti trenja u intervalu 0,40-0,50. Takođe,za svaku grupu zavrtnjeva određeni su inicijalni, kratkoročni i dugoročni gubici sileprednaprezanja. Ekstrapolacijom rezultata sakupljenih u prve 24 nedelje na period od 20godina, za svaki tip i dužinu zavrtnja, definisana je kriva koja opisuje promenu sileprednaprezanja u zavrtnju u posmatranom periodu. Od svih ispitivanih zavrtnjeva jedinokod najkraćih HBT zavrtnjeva (dužine 55 mm) uočen je problem ostvarivanjaproračunske sile prednaprezanja. Kod zavrtnjeva ugrađenih u uzorke sa antikorozionomzaštitom gubici sile prednaprezanja značajno su veći od onih koji su ugrađeni u uzorkebez antikorozione zaštite. Uticaj dinamičkog opterećenja, definisanog tako da ne dovededo proklizavanja veze niti plastifikacije bilo kog njenog dela, može se zanemariti saaspekta gubitaka sile prednaprezanja. Takođe, može se zaključiti da je gubitak sileprednaprezanja najveći kod najkraćih zavrtnjeva i da opada sa povećanjem dužinezavrtnjeva. Primenom metode konačnih elemenata (MKE) modifikovani su postojećiizrazi za fleksibilnost HV zavrtnjeva i definisani novi za HBT zavrtnjeve. Takođe,primenom rezultata MKE i sopstvenog eksperimentalnog istraživanja, određena sureološka svojstva primenjenog cink-silikatnog premaza.Na osnovu rezultata sprovedenog istraživanja zaključuje se da je primenapredmetnih premaza kao i upotreba ispitivanih HBT zavrtnjeva u tarnim spojevimamoguća. Takođe, izvršena kvantifikacija gubitaka sile prednaprezanja omogućavaprojektantima da ih u postupku projektovanja uzmu u obzir i tako spreče gubitaknosivosti usled proklizavanja.
AB  - Friction connections with high-strength pretension bolts are greatly important inthe field of steel structures, especially in structures imposed to dynamic loads, such asbridges, cranes and wind turbine towers. Two parameters mostly influencing the loadbearingcapacity of such connections are the friction coefficient on friction surfaces andthe achieved pretension force in high-strength bolts.In an effort to meet contemporary trends in the field of structural engineering,especially by usage of new materials, connections with state-of-the-art zinc-rich silicatebased coating as an anti-corrosive primer have been investigated in the scope of thisresearch. Such a commercial coating „Resist 86“, manufacturer by „Jotun“ in Norway,is used. Friction connections are formed using classical HV high-strength bolts but alsothe lock-bolts „Huck BobTail (HBT)“, manufactured by „Alcoa Fastening Systems“ inEngland, which are more and more frequently used in the field of structural engineering.In this way a classical procedure of providing metalized friction surfaces is replacedwith much cheaper, more simple and quicker coating process. At the same time lockboltsare analysed in terms of their applicability when compared to the classicalpretension bolts in use. On the other hand, application of the new material, which acts asanti-corrosion protection over friction surfaces, stirs debate with regards to pretensionforce loss in bolts as it is a commonly known fact that the dominant portion of theselosses stems from a change in anti-corrosion layer thickness which may emerge in time.The research in question strives at two principle goals: whether usage the coatingin question in tension connections is justified from the standpoint of achieved frictioncoefficient and from the standpoint of loss of the pretension force.Related experimental research has been conducted in which 126 bolts were testedwithin 42 double-lap joint specimens. The experimental works are divided into severalphases due to their large extent and variety:- Determination of physical and mechanical properties of the applied materials.This phase implies testing of friction coefficient which is achieved by applyingthe aforementioned zinc-based silicate coating, and the mechanical properties(yield strength and tensile strength) of the HV and HBT bolts materials;- Measuring the thickness of the coating applied to all the steel plates used to fromthe specimens;- Bolt force calibration. Bolt force measurement procedure relating to insertion ofstrain gauges into the bolts has been selected as the most rational and efficientone. After the strain gauges are fitted, and prior to assembling the bolts into thespecimens, bolt force is calibrated in means of determination of force-strainrelation for each bolt. Some significant conclusions about distribution of theforce in the bolt have been drawn relaying on these results.- The focal point of the research - continuous monitoring the changes in boltforces has been carried out over 60 weeks for the first batch of 36 bolts, and over24 weeks for the remaining 72 bolts;- Testing of 6 specimens (18 bolts) for dynamic loads in 2x106 cycles.Specimens have been formed in a way to allow variation of: bolt types (HV andHBT), bolt lengths for various clamping package thicknesses (18 mm, 35 mm and 55mm), coating thickness (with and without coating) and loading conditions (with noexternal load sustained by samples and samples exposed to dynamic loads).The obtained results justify the application of the investigated coating type infriction connections given that friction coefficients are in range of 0,40-0,50. Inaddition, initial short-term and long-term pretension force losses have been determinedfor each group of bolts. Results obtained within the first 24 weeks are extrapolated toperiod of 20 years where a curve which describes change in pretension force within timewas defined for each bolt type and bolt length separately. The shortest HBT bolts (55mm long) showed to be problematic with regards to achieving the design value ofpretension force. Pretension force losses are significant in bolts assembled to specimenswith the coating when compared to those without. Influence of the dynamic loads,which are below slip resistance of the connection, can be disregarded in means of lossof the pretension force. Additionally, the conclusion can be drawn that the pretensionforce loss is the largest in the case of shortest bolts and that it can be reduced byincreasing the bolt length. Using finite element method (FEM) for modelling theexperiments of calibration process of HV and HBT bolts, existing equations forflexibility of HV bolts are improved, and for the first time equations are defined forHBT bolts. Also, using the results of FEM and experimental research, rheologicalproperties of the applied zinc-silicate coating are determined.According to results obtained from the conducted research, application ofaforementioned coatings can be recommended, as well as the use of tested HBT bolts infriction connections. Quantification of pretension force loss allows for the engineers inpractice to take such data into consideration in the course of design development andprevention of overestimation of load-bearing capacity against slippage.

Neki dragoceni zaključci o raspodeli sileunutar zavrnjeva su izvedeni na bazi ovih rezultata.- Centralni deo istraživanja u kojem je izvršeno kontinuirano praćenje promenesile u zavrtnjevima i to 60 nedelja za prvo ugrađenih 36 zavrtnjeva, odnosno 24nedelje za preostalih 72 zavrtnja i- Ispitivanje 6 uzoraka (18 zavrtnjeva) na dejstvo dinamičkog opterećenja tokom2x106 ciklusa.Uzorci su formirani na način da se obezbedi variranje: vrste zavrtnja (HV i HBT),dužine zavrtnja preko različite debljine steznog paketa (18 mm, 35 mm i 55 mm),debljine premaza (uzorci sa i bez premaza) i vrste opterećenja uzorka (bez spoljašnjegopterećenja na uzorke i uzorci izloženi dejstvu dinamičkog opterećenja).Dobijeni rezultati potvrđuju opravdanost primene predmetnog premaza u tarnimspojevima, sa obzirom da su određeni koeficijenti trenja u intervalu 0,40-0,50. Takođe,za svaku grupu zavrtnjeva određeni su inicijalni, kratkoročni i dugoročni gubici sileprednaprezanja. Ekstrapolacijom rezultata sakupljenih u prve 24 nedelje na period od 20godina, za svaki tip i dužinu zavrtnja, definisana je kriva koja opisuje promenu sileprednaprezanja u zavrtnju u posmatranom periodu. Od svih ispitivanih zavrtnjeva jedinokod najkraćih HBT zavrtnjeva (dužine 55 mm) uočen je problem ostvarivanjaproračunske sile prednaprezanja. Kod zavrtnjeva ugrađenih u uzorke sa antikorozionomzaštitom gubici sile prednaprezanja značajno su veći od onih koji su ugrađeni u uzorkebez antikorozione zaštite. Uticaj dinamičkog opterećenja, definisanog tako da ne dovededo proklizavanja veze niti plastifikacije bilo kog njenog dela, može se zanemariti saaspekta gubitaka sile prednaprezanja. Takođe, može se zaključiti da je gubitak sileprednaprezanja najveći kod najkraćih zavrtnjeva i da opada sa povećanjem dužinezavrtnjeva. Primenom metode konačnih elemenata (MKE) modifikovani su postojećiizrazi za fleksibilnost HV zavrtnjeva i definisani novi za HBT zavrtnjeve. Takođe,primenom rezultata MKE i sopstvenog eksperimentalnog istraživanja, određena sureološka svojstva primenjenog cink-silikatnog premaza.Na osnovu rezultata sprovedenog istraživanja zaključuje se da je primenapredmetnih premaza kao i upotreba ispitivanih HBT zavrtnjeva u tarnim spojevimamoguća. Takođe, izvršena kvantifikacija gubitaka sile prednaprezanja omogućavaprojektantima da ih u postupku projektovanja uzmu u obzir i tako spreče gubitaknosivosti usled proklizavanja., Friction connections with high-strength pretension bolts are greatly important inthe field of steel structures, especially in structures imposed to dynamic loads, such asbridges, cranes and wind turbine towers. Two parameters mostly influencing the loadbearingcapacity of such connections are the friction coefficient on friction surfaces andthe achieved pretension force in high-strength bolts.In an effort to meet contemporary trends in the field of structural engineering,especially by usage of new materials, connections with state-of-the-art zinc-rich silicatebased coating as an anti-corrosive primer have been investigated in the scope of thisresearch. Such a commercial coating „Resist 86“, manufacturer by „Jotun“ in Norway,is used. Friction connections are formed using classical HV high-strength bolts but alsothe lock-bolts „Huck BobTail (HBT)“, manufactured by „Alcoa Fastening Systems“ inEngland, which are more and more frequently used in the field of structural engineering.In this way a classical procedure of providing metalized friction surfaces is replacedwith much cheaper, more simple and quicker coating process. At the same time lockboltsare analysed in terms of their applicability when compared to the classicalpretension bolts in use. On the other hand, application of the new material, which acts asanti-corrosion protection over friction surfaces, stirs debate with regards to pretensionforce loss in bolts as it is a commonly known fact that the dominant portion of theselosses stems from a change in anti-corrosion layer thickness which may emerge in time.The research in question strives at two principle goals: whether usage the coatingin question in tension connections is justified from the standpoint of achieved frictioncoefficient and from the standpoint of loss of the pretension force.Related experimental research has been conducted in which 126 bolts were testedwithin 42 double-lap joint specimens. The experimental works are divided into severalphases due to their large extent and variety:- Determination of physical and mechanical properties of the applied materials.This phase implies testing of friction coefficient which is achieved by applyingthe aforementioned zinc-based silicate coating, and the mechanical properties(yield strength and tensile strength) of the HV and HBT bolts materials;- Measuring the thickness of the coating applied to all the steel plates used to fromthe specimens;- Bolt force calibration. Bolt force measurement procedure relating to insertion ofstrain gauges into the bolts has been selected as the most rational and efficientone. After the strain gauges are fitted, and prior to assembling the bolts into thespecimens, bolt force is calibrated in means of determination of force-strainrelation for each bolt. Some significant conclusions about distribution of theforce in the bolt have been drawn relaying on these results.- The focal point of the research - continuous monitoring the changes in boltforces has been carried out over 60 weeks for the first batch of 36 bolts, and over24 weeks for the remaining 72 bolts;- Testing of 6 specimens (18 bolts) for dynamic loads in 2x106 cycles.Specimens have been formed in a way to allow variation of: bolt types (HV andHBT), bolt lengths for various clamping package thicknesses (18 mm, 35 mm and 55mm), coating thickness (with and without coating) and loading conditions (with noexternal load sustained by samples and samples exposed to dynamic loads).The obtained results justify the application of the investigated coating type infriction connections given that friction coefficients are in range of 0,40-0,50. Inaddition, initial short-term and long-term pretension force losses have been determinedfor each group of bolts. Results obtained within the first 24 weeks are extrapolated toperiod of 20 years where a curve which describes change in pretension force within timewas defined for each bolt type and bolt length separately. The shortest HBT bolts (55mm long) showed to be problematic with regards to achieving the design value ofpretension force. Pretension force losses are significant in bolts assembled to specimenswith the coating when compared to those without. Influence of the dynamic loads,which are below slip resistance of the connection, can be disregarded in means of lossof the pretension force. Additionally, the conclusion can be drawn that the pretensionforce loss is the largest in the case of shortest bolts and that it can be reduced byincreasing the bolt length. Using finite element method (FEM) for modelling theexperiments of calibration process of HV and HBT bolts, existing equations forflexibility of HV bolts are improved, and for the first time equations are defined forHBT bolts. Also, using the results of FEM and experimental research, rheologicalproperties of the applied zinc-silicate coating are determined.According to results obtained from the conducted research, application ofaforementioned coatings can be recommended, as well as the use of tested HBT bolts infriction connections. Quantification of pretension force loss allows for the engineers inpractice to take such data into consideration in the course of design development andprevention of overestimation of load-bearing capacity against slippage.",

AB  - When applying high strength bolts in friction connections, in such case a load–bearing capacity depends on a pretension force in the bolts as well as on a friction coefficient found on friction surfaces. It is important to get the reliable value of the pretension force, which is why friction connections often undergo experimental research. In order to use strain gauges, which are inserted into the bolt shank, bolts need to be calibrated before we even use them in experimental research. Research that has been conducted shows a great difference between nominal and experimental strain in bolts, therefore FEA calibration of the bolts had to be carried out. Good results matching were obtained; hence a use of strain gauges was justified even for bolts without a shank.

AB  - Connections made by use of wide end plates, i.e., by means of four bolts in one row are widely used in steel structures, i.e., in building engineering. On the other hand, the applicable version of European standard EN 1993-1-8, does not provide recommendations for designing of such connections but rather limits itself to application of somewhat narrow bonds). Extensive research has been conducted in recent years throughout Europe in order to extend implementation of Eurocode with regards to connections made by wide end plates. This paper will show the latest research conducted in this engineering field, as well as key calculation points relating to resistance of a rigid joint made by use of four bolts in one row.
AB  - Veze sa širokom čeonom pločom, odnosno sa četiri zavrtnja u redu imaju značajnu primenu u čeličnim konstrukcijama u zgradarstvu. Međutim, trenutna verzija evropskog standarda EN 1993-1-8, ne daje preporuke za projektovanje ovakvih veza, već se ograničava samo na primenu uskih veza. Proteklih godina širom Evrope su vršena istraživanja sa ciljem da se proširi primena evrokoda i na veze sa širokim čeonim pločama. U ovom radu su prikazana najnovija istraživanja u ovoj oblasti, kao i osnovne specifičnosti proračuna nosivosti momentne veze sa četiri zavrtnja u jednom redu.
