AB - Porous asphalts are applied all over the world to minimize the effect of noise caused by everyday traffic. Beside the effect of noise reduction, thanks to their open texture and improved drainage characteristics, porous asphalts decrease the impact of spraying water behind a moving vehicle. Since drainage capability of porous asphalt as a surface permeable layer is much higher compared to a conventional dense-graded asphalt surface course, the values of cross grades of pavement wearing course on the road sections with porous asphalts should be additionally considered. Hence, the primary topic of this paper is how the application of porous asphalt could affect the geometric design of grading plans of pavement surface on urban roads, especially in intersection zones, where different longitudinal and cross grades of intersecting directions have to be mutually aligned. Due to a higher drainage capacity of porous asphalt layers, layout plan of storm water inlets can be changed if pavement cross grades are reduced.

AB - Exits on multilevel interchange ramps present potentially dangerous spots from the point of traffic safety. Therefore, a range of vehicle restraint systems was developed to reduce the consequences of traffic accidents. Proper installation of adequate crash cushion systems requires sufficient space (length) at the point where the ramp leaves major road. To provide for an installation of such a system, the basic geometry of the exit ramp must be reconsidered, introducing the appropriate ration between the radius and transition curve.

AB - This paper deals with characterisation of track geometry, track measuring and recording system, as well as geometric quality levels. The legal framework and state of the art in the field of harmonization of track geometry technical regulation in the Republic of Serbia were presented. In particular, the paper discusses the European standard EN 13848 Series (Parts 1-6). Principal track geometric parameters were analyzed according to EN 13848-1. Track geometric quality levels were examined according to EN 13848-5. The evaluation of track geometry quality according to prEN 13848-6 was analyzed as well. The objective of creation of the European standard EN 13848 Series (Parts 1-6) was defining a unique approach for the evaluation of track geometry quality of various European railway infrastructures. The Institute for Standardization of Serbia has adopted and published five of six parts of this standard. This paper is a part of an effort to harmonize the Serbian railway technical regulations with those of the European Union. .
