AB - The paper considers the outcome of multi-criteria analysis of landslide susceptibility on the NW
outskirts of Fruška Gora Mountain, Serbia. The area of the interest is known for landslide occurrences, and to focus on the most affected areas, it was necessary to consider some principal factors (lithology, slope inclination, rainfall, erosion, vegetation, altitude and slope aspect) and sort them by their importance to the phenomena. Prior to any criteria assessment, available data records had been assembled and refashioned as raster datasets. Thereafter, the criteria arising from an analytical hierarchy process (AHP) provided their weights of preference in the final model. In addition, the model was analysed for the information gain and classified in accordance to the optimal informativeness. Being tailored in the context of raster modelling, aided by the GIS
spatial tools, our result gained substantial correlation to the control reference map (a digital photo-geological interpretation map of active and potential landslides).

AB - Terrestrial laser scanning has propelled recent advancements in rock slope engineering. Building models with millions of points to discretize an actual slope has provided resolutions which empower computerbased analysis/measurements of rock slopes as a supplement/substitute for conventional data acquisition. Herein, we are following-up such trends at a pilot site on the M-22 highroad near Ljig (Serbia). The site is composed of stratified Cretaceous flysch sediments, traversed by several joint sets, making a convenient setting for potential failures. Prior to the kinematic analysis, modeling of the 3D surface has been performed on 1 cm resolution point
cloud, obtained by Leica Scan Station 2. The 3D surface model was then mapped for the planar discontinuities, forwarded to the kinematic analysis for planar, wedge and toppling failures. The analysis matches with previous findings, indicating that the most dominant failure type is a planar slide, showing that proposed methodology yields reliable and concurrent results.

AB - Osnovne topografske osobine igraju važnu ulogu u određivanju hidroloških karakteristika sliva,
prilikom modeliranja vodnih resursa.

AB - Basic topographic features play major role in deriving basin hydrological characteristics for water
resources modeling. Algorithm used in this paper for defining watershed contours relies on digital
elevation model (DEM) as primary input data. Accuracy of automatic deriving of watershed contours primarily depends on DEM resolution. On the other hand, accuracy can depend on raster method that is used for stream network delineation into Stream Network raster. To perform this function it is necessary to know how much water flows through each pixel. This means that it is necessary to set the threshold of how many cells flow into each downslope cell to recognize it as a stream. There are several ways to set up the threshold value and herein the calibration method is used. This paper treatsGornja Lisina source, where this method was used to determine watershed contours for 9 springs. Source DEM had 25 m resolution. Various threshold values were tested. For each value catchment area was calculated and compared to area values calculated using common hydrological methods.

AB - The need for smart sustainable urban solutions has never been greater than it is today.
Master plan (MP) represents rather significant document for a city development and the
City of Belgrade has a tradition and long history of development under MP framework
(Djuric et al 2013). Current MP (Fig. 1), made by the Urban Planning Institute of Belgrade,
has been adopted in 2003 and refers to the development period by the year of 2021
(http://www.urbel.com/default.aspx?ID=uzb_BG_planovi&LN=ENG).
On the other hand the City of Belgrade is facing a rapid urban sprawl so suburbanization
problem is particularly pronounced. Since MP is following the current needs of the city,
active subjects of economic development as well as urban municipalities, there is strong
initiative to expand its current extents for the suburb areas.
Among other significant points of the MP, determination of the Land-Use Suitability
(LUS) is considered to be one of the foremost planning references. LUS analysis is a tool
used to define future land uses or their potential. Suitability techniques enable
environmental managers, planners and engineers to analyze the interactions among various
factors. Decision makers and developers can use the outputs to set policies and make
decisions regarding the use of land. Contemporary environmental managers and planners
are aware of the technological advancements in land-use allocation and suitability
modelling. New methods of spatial analysis are now commonly used in the development of
land-use plans, environmental impact reviews, and site selection studies for many different
land uses and public and private facilities (Collins, 2001). The earliest applications of
suitability analysis conducted by engineering geologists and civil engineers for Belgrade
MP area, in form of hand-drawn sieve mapping overlays was done by Šutić et al. (1972).
Later, numerous researchers performed similar suitability analysis for different purposes
(urban planning, defining best/optimal road routes etc). First work involving suitability
analysis in GIS environment has been done in 2009/2010 (Marjanović, 2009; Djurić,
2010), but none for Belgrade area.
This paper introduces a new approach and represents in fact, a pioneering work performed
for the City of Belgrade. It represents how available thematic data, processed in GIS
environment, can be and was used for LUS assessment. One of the statistical methods
involving the Conditional Probability (CP) approach with the Weight of Evidence
technique, has been used. Conventional methods on the other hand, are still needed to
validate the outcomes and to calibrate these GIS-based methods, which are still to be
developed and perfected.
There was a strong motif supporting this research, since in-charged City’s government
services have shown interest in extending the Master Plan (MP) to the Belgrade suburb
areas.

AB - This paper treats development issues of the suburban areas of Belgrade city. A considerable growth that the city had experienced has led to excessive consumption of land and also to degradation of the landscape and loss of the natural biodiversity. This is why an augmentation of the current Master Plan within the administrative extents of the city is considered to be vital for consistent planning of suburban areas development. Model used in this paper considered defining land-use suitability, relying on available thematic data, including the following sources: topography, land-cover, geology, protected areas and some synthetic maps derived from these sources in a GIS environment. For this purpose Support Vector Machines (SVM) algorithm has been implemented in a typical supervised classification learning task. Two modelling schemes have been involved (since the main problem of the study was the unavailability of the land-use suitability in the testing area): MODEL1 has been built in the extents of the training area having only two land-use suitability classes at disposal (Unsuitable and Very Unsuitable) and extrapolated to the testing area within which the same two classes were known (thus available for model performance evaluation), while MODEL2 has been trained on all four land-use suitability classes, and extrapolated to the testing area, with unknown land-use classes. The second model was then correlated with the first one in order to estimate its otherwise disputable performance. Results of MODEL1 were satisfactory, with high overall accuracy (85%). MODEL2 visually shows a good tendency, and since it has at least 85% accuracy for those coincident two classes (Unsuitable and Very Unsuitable) with MODEL1, it is justified to assume that remaining two classes match similar accuracy rates. The model could be improved by more thorough optimization of the classifier parameters, which will require much longer experimenting costs.

AB - The paper addresses the problem of suburb development potential in the City of
Belgrade. Suburbanization problem is particularly pronounced due to the rapid spreading
of the city, and there is a strong initiative for extending the existing Master Plan for
these suburb areas. One of the important points in that context is determination of the
Land-Use suitability, as one of the foremost planning references. Herein, a statistical
model is proposed for modeling of the Land-Use suitability relying on the available
thematic data, including the following sources: Land-Cover, Geological, Topographic
and Protected areas maps and some synthetic maps derived from these sources in a GIS
environment. For the modeling purposes, the Conditional Probability approach has been
implemented, using Weight of Evidence technique, in particular. Two modeling schemes
have been involved: (i) model is being built and correlated in the extents of the known
Land-Use suitability (training area) (ii) model is being extrapolated to the areas with
partly known Land-Use suitability (by having only two particular suitability classes at
disposal). Such strategy enabled optimization of classification scale, crucial for the
actual comparison of the actual state and the final model, as a combination of (i) and (ii).
The results were convincing and by reaching more nearly 80% of accuracy, they parallel
the results of the earlier work based on different methodology. Finally, a practical
applicability of the model has been also discussed.

AB - This paper presents two examples of advanced methods of slope imaging on the main road M-22 near the town of Ljig. The slope survey mapping for the research, design and mitigation purposes is still being done using traditional methods. With recent improvement of digital technology manual measurements can be partly eliminated. The application of 3D laser scanning and photogrammetric survey allows to discretize the slope with a large number of points, based on which a detailed 3D surface of the slope could be derived; hence, the interpretation of the details could be significantly improved. Brief description of the study and used methods. Brief description of the study and used methods.
