Methodology of calculations for landslide stabilisation by piles

AB  - Klizišta u Srbiji, u najvećem broju slučajeva, jako zavise od geoloških uslova u terenu i svako klizište ima svoje specifičnosti koje moraju da se odrede geotehničkim istraživanjima. Stoga su u radu prvo prikazane osnovne karakteristike klizišta u Srbiji, kao i postupci njihovog istraživanja. Zatim su prikazani proračuni sanacije klizišta vertikalnim šipovima. Metodologija proračuna je složena, jer podrazumeva interakciju klizišta i stabilizirajućih šipova. Prilikom određivanja bočne otpornosti tla oko šipova koristi se metoda Brinč Hansena koja uzima u obzir trodimenzionalne uslove i može da se primeni u složenim geološkim uslovima koji su česti u Srbiji. U postupku proračuna određuju se kako geotehnička tako i konstruktivna bočna nosivost vertikalnih šipova, dok se analize stabilnosti klizišta vrše odgovarajućim metodama granične ravnoteže. Predloženim postupkom proračuna omogućeno je da otpornost čitave klizne površine, u sadejstvu sa šipovima, realizuje zahtevanu vrednost faktora sigurnosti.

Strength of composite flysch samples under uniaxial compression

AB  - This paper presents the results of uniaxial compression strength tests performed on samples composed of sandstone and siltstone discs. Samples are loaded until failure, with the aim of determining the dependency between uniaxial compressive strength and the volumetric percentage of siltstone. In order to precisely determine the moment and mechanism of failure of each composite sample, the process was recorded with a high-speed camera (120 fps). Uniaxial compressive strength decreases exponentially with an increase of siltstone volumetric participation. The critical ratio at which the uniaxial compressive strength of the composite sample equals the strength of the uniform siltstone sample was obtained at a siltstone percentage of 60%. The failure mechanism is highly dependent on the siltstone percentage, and occurs as shear or tensile failure, or combined shear-tensile failure in individual discs or throughout the entire composite sample. Comparison of the obtained exponential equation with empirical suggestions shows a good correspondence. It is suspected that the disagreement between the particular conclusions of this study and conclusions of other laboratory studies is due mainly to sample micro-heterogeneity.

Application of geological strength index for characterization of weathering-induced failures

AB  - This study investigates weathering indded failures of the heterogeneous fissile rock mass consisting of sandstone and shale. Discontinuity data was collected and the geological strength index (GSI) value was determined immediately after excavation based on the quantified GSI chart. Slake durability tests were performed up to the fifth cycle. Samples were exposed to natural climatic conditions during a twelve-month period, in order to quantify slaking process by means of disintegration ratio. As a consequence of exposure, samples disintegrated into smaller fragments. On these bases, the model aimed at addressing delayed failure of cuts is proposed in the paper.
