AB - Standardization in the field of geographical information related to the definition of the system of collection, preparation, storage, maintenance, presentation and sharing of geographic information. Quality information of available spatial data are vital in the process of selecting a dataset where data value is directly related to its quality. Users of spatial data can choose data from multiple datasets. Therefore. It is necessary to compare the quality of datasets and determine which best meet customer requirements. Digital topographic maps for its visuality, brevity and easy of use have a big advantage over other spatial datasets and is therefore fully justified request for the development of the system of determining, evaluating and impart their quality. The main objective of this paper is to describe the possibilities of application of ISO 19157 'Geographic information - Data quality' standard in technological process of the production of digital topographic maps.

AB - Positional accuracy is important quantity element of quality of geographical information in digital as well as in analoguos form. This paper points to importance and necessity of evaluation of positional accuracy in recent conditions, describes two modern standards for positional accuracy evaluation and shows the results of its implementation on raster topographic map at scale 1:50.000 made by Military Geographical Institute.

AB - The paper describes the methodology used for the assessment of the horizontal accuracy of digital topographic maps at a scale oft: 50 000 produced by the Serbian Military Geographic Institute and reviews the results. The test for the horizontal accuracy compliance of a map sheet is done by comparing the planimetric coordinates of the ground points to the coordinates of the same points as determined by a horizontal check survey of higher accuracy with standard deviations equal or less than one-third of the limiting error selected for the map. In this research two standards were used and the methodology of their use is discussed in detail. Special attention was not paid to the map design but to the quality of the map assurance, using verified scientific approaches. The result obtained from this research confirmed the chosen approach and showed very good results for the digital topographic maps produced by the Serbian Military Geographic Institute. The suggested methodology may be also used for the assessment of digital topographic maps at other scales

AB - This paper describes measurements and shows the results of the first GPS campaign taken in Serbia, realized by Military Geographical Institute from Belgrade in July 1990, within its Experimental geodetic network. As a matter of fact, the Military Geographical Institute obtained its first GPS measurements nearby its building in March 1990, during the training with WM102 receivers, but the EPVGI90 campaign was the first 'real' geodetic task accomplished by GPS technology in Serbia.

Two standards were used, and for one of them (which is more appropriate for appliance in our conditions) the methodology and preliminary estimate of costs are elaborated, for single sheet and for whole map, as well. The suggested methodology may be used for the assessment of another digital topographic maps (in different scale) made by Military Geographical Institute.
