AB - This paper presents an analytical model to analyze illumination of the church interior during the evening service. The focus is on the artificial light achieved using church lighting fixtures known as polycandela, which are suspended directly below the church dome. The analysis focuses on the main church (katholikon) at Studenica Monastery, built in Serbia sometime before 1208/9. By using a computer-generated model of the Studenica church derived from high-precision laser scanning and close-range photogrammetry rather than from more conventional architectural drawings of the church, we recreate the actual three-dimensional space of the church interior. Our model allows for a quantitative calculation and analysis of the amount of artificial light that could have been achieved inside medieval churches. We apply this model for the church at Studenica to better understand the lighting of medieval structures as well as more abstract and diagrammatic qualities of the sacred space of the church manifested by light conditions.

AB - The Church of the Mother of God at Studenica Monastery in Serbia was estab-
lished by the medieval Serbian ruler and founder of his own dynasty, Stefan
Nemanja (r. 1169–1196).1 The church is finely proportioned. Sophisticated
treatment of wall surfaces additionally enriches the high-quality construc-
tion in stone (figure 10.1). Nicely carved architectural sculpture enlivens the
church exterior while extensive fresco decoration adorns the interior walls.
The building is a single-nave structure, with a dominant square-based domical
core and a tripartite sanctuary, typical for Byzantine-rite churches (figure 10.2).
Architecturally and structurally speaking, this design is essentially a condensed
form of a typical Middle Byzantine church, known as an atrophied Greek-cross
church.2 In such churches, as in Studenica church, the lateral arms of the cross
are reduced to narrow barrel vaults. Thus, these vaults effectively become mas-
sive arches that project from structural piers; the same piers that carry trans-
versal arches, which support the domical core of the structure.

AB - Geodetic monitoring of a tall structure means employing various methods of measurement and data processing for assessing its verticality. Terrestrial laser scanning (TLS) is a method of collecting lots of quality spatial data in a short time period. It enables detailed surface 3D parametric modelling. Advantages over the traditional cross-sectioning approach include direct obtaining of the structure axis inclination, analysing structure deformations relative to the modelled surface, and so forth. The subject of research was 52-metre-tall cylinder-shaped bell tower of St. Anthony of Padua Church in Belgrade, Serbia, which has been inclined since its completion in 1962. An original algorithm was developed for estimating parameters of a cylinder approximating the tower surface and their precision. The horizontal displacement of the cylinder top base centre ranging from 1.174 m to 1.196 m over the five-year period of geodetic monitoring of the tower indicates the clear existence of the structure tilting trend.

AB - In this article, we are elaborating an example of predictive rockfall assessment by
using Terrestrial Laser Scanning (TLS) in monitoring a road cut, hosted in flysch rock formation,
near Ljig in Serbia. A sequence of rockfall events from 2013-2019 is presented, while the cut
has been more broadly investigated in our earlier work. Beside occasional rockfalls which are
routinely detected by annual TLS monitoring, it was possible to track the pre-failure
deformations preceding a series of rockfalls, reaching 0.3 m3 in volume with 0.5 annual
reoccurrence probability. Monitoring enabled identification of subtle displacements of about 1
cm after the first event in 2014 and keeping track of its progression. After a series of events in
the following years, we were able to define the pre-failure threshold which can be applied to the
adjacent rock blocks, assuming a similar block volume. It also enabled us to anticipate and
simulate the event before it happens. This approach allows planning, prevention and protection,
and there is a great deal of interest to standardize it for high-risk slopes and cuts in rock masses.

AB - Results of recent monitoring activities conducted from 2014 to 2019 are presented in the paper as a part of IPL 181 Project progress report. Recent monitoring activities are concentrated on several landslide monitoring techniques— automated GNSS monitoring system measurements, geodetic benchmark survey monitoring, UAV imaging, processing and analysis, and PSInSAR data processing and analysis. Results of all monitoring activities were analysed and used for cross-correlation and for verification of monitoring results obtained from different techniques. Displacement rates from GNSS measurements indicate that object point UmkaGNSS2 has moved 0.30 m towards the North and 0.50 m towards the West, while the vertical displacement was approximately −0.15 m for the 2014–2018 time span. Similar range of GNSS displacement rates were found in previously published results from monitoring activities realized from 2010–2014. PSInSAR data analysis also showed good correlation between nearest PS points and GNSS point for the same period of monitoring. Results from UAV and geodetic benchmarks survey showed very good correlation in displacement vectors’ direction. According to the analyzed data it could be concluded that all monitoring results are in compliance with previous research results and confirm that the Umka is slow tovery slow moving landslide with cyclic acceleration and deceleration phases.

According to the analyzed data it could be concluded that all monitoring results are in compliance with previous research results and confirm that the Umka is slow tovery slow moving landslide with cyclic acceleration and deceleration phases.",

AB - The Umka landslide is one of the biggest inhabited active landslides in Serbia. The Umka landslide activity has been monitored for a period longer than 85 years, by various geotechnical and geodetic techniques. Since 2010, landslide activity has been continuously monitored by automated permanent Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) based monitoring system in real time. Furthermore, since 2018 landslide activity has been monitored by GNSS kinematic positioning of a set of characteristic points as well as by UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle) photogrammetry. The main issue of this paper is the presentation of the results gained with GNSS kinematic positioning of characteristic points of Umka landslide within three observation epochs.

AB - Projektno orijentisan problemski zasnovan pristup učenju (eng. Project Oriented and Problem Based Learning/Problem Oriented Project Based Learning - POPBL) jeste koncept koji je prvi put uveden sedamdesetih godina prošlog veka.

AB - This project reveals surveying data and architectural design of the major church in the Studenica monastery complex in Serbia reflected in a variety of 3D models and the analysis of the church interior and exterior. Architecture-driven computational parametric modeling was done by using two types of data: close range photogrammetry and high precision laser scanning. The modeling, based on geometric parameters and other planimetric and volumetric analysis, is devised
during the four-year study as part of the project Parametric Research of the Studenica Church, a UNESCO Heritage Site, as a Model for Advanced Studies of Medieval Architecture. These models allow for better understanding and representation of the proportional, aesthetic and illumination qualities of the Studenica church and for prototyping procedures for examining other medieval domed churches where we lack more detailed references about their architectural design.

AB - Unlike traditional methods, terrestrial laser scanning (TLS) enables one to collect enormous amount of data in a fairly short time, consequently reducing field efforts. This backed up the decision to employ TLS for deformation monitoring of the brick bell tower of St. Anthony of Padua Church in Belgrade. One epoch of terrestrial laser scanning completed in March 2015 revealed that the projection of the tower axis vector to the horizontal plane reached the value of almost 1.2 m, that is nearly three times greater than the value observed at the time of the tower completion. This urged for the tower stability monitoring to be started which finally happened in 2019. Over a period of about four and a half years a trend in the tower tilting increase of 1.6 arcmin in total was unequivocally established, that is, the top of the tower displacement of 22 mm in the horizontal plane.

AB - In this paper, an analysis of three Serbian medieval Raška churches highlights the significance of the interaction of regular geometric shapes in the composition of their underlying proportional scheme. The complex geometry recognised in the layouts and cross-sections of these monastery churches points to the potential use of a unique triangular proportioning system. This proportional system is derived from the initial geometry of Štambuk's proportional canon, which employs two circles constrained by an equilateral triangle in a specific setting. As the essence of religious medieval structures is often related to their interior, in this paper 3D empty space moulds are created by the parametric modelling of each element of the structure. This research shows how the variation of the two critical points of the church interior, the centres of the dome and of the main apse, along with the key triangles incorporated in the proportional scheme, affect the final 3D structural model.

AB - Project "Мonitoring оf Erosion on the Đavolja Varoš site ‐ MEĐA: sustainability of natural phenomena in climate change conditions ", was created by a team of young scientists and PhD students from the Faculty of Mining and Geology and Faculty of Civil Engineering, University of Belgrade. The area of interest is Đavolja Varoš, near Kuršumlija, where all field research will be carried out, while the analysis of the collected data will be done at the Faculty of Mining and Geology and Faculty of Civil Engineering in Belgrade. MEĐA aims to popularize the natural values of the protected area of Đavolja Varoš, but also to raise awareness about the problems of sustainability of this natural phenomenon in the climate change conditions (Naydenova 2012), among the wider and local public, as well as among the scientific circles in the country and abroad. Indirectly, the project encourages local activism through local involvement in the development of this research and its results, responsible planning, interdisciplinary approach to solving problems and approaching the problem of the local population through education, which should be stimulative for the preservation and promotion of the natural heritage. The desired long‐term effect that would result from this research should have a significant part in the overall socioeconomic development of the municipality of Kuršumlija, and the entire Toplica district.

AB - The section of E75 motorway under construction was subjected to simulation of potential rockfall hazard. 3D point-cloud surface model of the rock slope, obtained by a combination of LiDAR and UAV techniques, was used for mapping of discontinuities, their orientation and spacing. These were inputs for appropriate slope stability analyses, which were further used do delineate potential depletion zones or rockfall block sources. Once delineated, source zones were used to simulate 3D rock trajectories over 3D surface slope model, for various block sizes. All trajectories were compared and evaluated for their potential impact on the viaduct setting, based on their spatial propagation, kinetic energies and forces, bouncing heights etc. Finally, according preventive measures for rockfall hazard mitigation were proposed.

AB - Architectural overview of some historical building is certainly not complete without its proportional analyzes. This study is conducted by the proportion-as-ratio principles for analyzing sacred structures, hence highlighting geometry, both in the sense of geometric interplay of basic shapes (equilateral triangle and circle) and mathematical ratio expressed by formula such as 1:1, 1:2, 1:2 , 1:1.61 (the golden mean),1: 3 , 1: 5 , 1: 6 , 1: 7 , etc. Among thethree common types of proportional systems, applied in Serbian medieval architecture (square, triangular and golden section), triangular proportional system is specifically related to the so-called Raška style group. The guiding idea of the paper is to test three similar floor plan design patterns of the three exquisite medieval structures on unique proportioning system and 3D modeling of the interior space by parametric interpretation of each structural element of the whole (arch, vault, dome and apse). Parallel overview of the main churches of Studenica, Ţiča and Gradac contains 2D drawings (floor plans and vertical sections), along with proportional analyzes of their structural elements. Each of the three floor plan design patterns complies with I. Štambuk's proportional canon, additionally enriched with intriguing triangular scheme. 3D models are created as "empty space molds" of the church interior, by modeling each element of the structure in Autodesk Revit software.

AB - Contemporary trend in reverse engineering in the area of architecture, civil engineering and survey
assumes application of contemporary software tools and measuring devices, where the result –
„state of the art“ of a cultural heritage monument and its terrain surroundings is a point cloud in
referenced 3D coordinate system. Terrestrial laser scanning (TLS), as the measuring method, gives accurate data on an object/terrain, available for further processing (according to professional
needs) and analysis. Contemporary software solutions for point cloud data processing enable
results for the purposes of accurate 2D technical documentation, creation of 3D realistic mesh
models, presentations, animations and other deliverables in overall research processes. This paper presents the results of architectural-geometric analysis of the Kings’ church exterior in Studenica monastery, based on point cloud data provided by TLS at the site during 2017 and partly on existing technical documentation. Kings’ church (originally dedicated to Ss. Ioachim and Anna) is legacy of the king Milutin ( the end of 13th / beginning of 14th c), very modest in dimensions,
almost square shaped in its layout. Its architectural structure is composed as compressed inscribed cross. It belongs to a group of one nave domed churches built by the principles of Byzantine architectural style.
The paper presents 2D projections (cross-sections and characteristic facades) of the church obtained from point cloud results, along with its proportional analysis.

AB - This research addresses a rockslope on the motorway No. 228, labeled as a 2A category road, according to the official road authority—Public Enterprise Roads of Serbia, which links Prolom Banja with a higher-category road network. Prolom Banja is an uprising touristic destination, famous for its spa and wellness resort, which shows an increasing trend of visits (over 10k tourists per month in the peak-season). As the road 228 is the only link to the resort, there is a raising concern about the road safety for about 650 vehicles per day (on average) along its many critical road cuts. One such rockslope (Lat 43.039850, Lon 21.380114) in weathered, jointed andesite is exampled in this research, using both terrestrial and airborne systems for reconstructing surface point-clouds, as well as the abovementioned index field and lab tests. These allowed quantifications of the rock joint sets and their kinematic stability, joint spacing, blocks volumes, and finally, profiling the critical blocks for potential rockfall development. It is planned to annually monitor the pilot site in the future, so that all changes, i.e. detached blocks and fragments will be identified.

AB - The IPL project No 181 titled "Study of slow moving landslide Umka near Belgrade" started in November 2012. The study area is located on the right bank of Sava River, 25 km south west of Belgrade, Serbia. The basic objective of the Project was to enable the analysis, correlation and synthesis of data obtained from various phases of investigation of Umka landslide after 35 years of research. Apart from this, the analysis of data from monitoring conducted during certain phases of research was compared with data from automated GNSS monitoring over the last six years, although during numerous investigations various research methods were used for research and monitoring. The project was focused on: analysis of previous detail site investigations and field instrumentation from 1990-2005, analysis of aerial photos and orthophoto images from 1957-2010, analysis of automated GNSS monitoring results from 2010 to end of the Project and analysis of precipitation and levels of the Sava River. Project beneficiaries are local community and local and regional authorities. In this paper we will present results of the proposed project targets performed by Project participants.

AB - Three dimensional virtual modelling of existing objects (buildings or structures) is applicable in various fields of science and practice: architecture, civil engineering, urbanism, geology, mechanical engineering, video games and movie industry, medicine, archeology, safety of people and goods, etc. Photogrammetry, as a method of obtaining data of three-dimensional spatial structures based on two-dimensional images, is used, thanks to a number of software packages, for creating 3D models of objects and other spatial structures. This study analyses terrestrial semiautomatic and automatic photogrammetric methods, both presented through process of creating 3D model of an old existing historical building - Barutana (military gun powder warehouse), built in Ottoman empire, located in the fortress of the city of Nis in Serbia. The aim of the paper is comparison of two photogrammetric methods - semiautomatic and automatic in accuracy and efficiency through case study of Barutana.
