AB - At the Faculty of Civil Engineering in Belgrade, in the Descriptive geometry (DG) course, non-obligatory workshops named “facultative task” are held for the three generations of freshman students with the aim to give students the opportunity to get higher final grade on the exam. The content of this workshop was a creative task, performed by a group of three students, offering free choice of a topic, i.e. the geometric structure associated with some real or imagery architectural/art-work object.
After the workshops a questionnaire (composed by the professors at the course) is given to the students, in order to get their response on teaching/learning materials for the DG course and the workshop. During the workshop students performed one of the common tests for testing spatial abilities, named “paper folding".
Based on the results of the questionnairethe investigation of the linkages between:students’ final achievements and spatial abilities, as well as students’ expectations of their performance on the exam, and how the students’ capacity to correctly estimate their grades were associated with expected and final grades, is provided. The goal was to give an evidence that a creative work, performed by a small group of students and self-assessment of their performances are a good way of helping students to maintain motivation and to accomplish their achievement.
The final conclusion is addressed to the benefits of additional workshops employment in the course, which confirmhigherfinal scores-grades, achievement of creative results (facultative tasks) and confirmation of DG knowledge adaption.

AB - Excessive speed and poor drivers' perception are the causes of a large number of traffic accidents. Analysis of the influence of geometry in drivers' behavior has been widely performed by different researchers. One way to improve road safety is to provide adequate visibility in order to help drivers adopt adequate behaviors. When the budget is not sufficient for expensive traffic solutions, innovative but simple solutions can be implemented. In this study, the experiment was performed to explore how drivers' perception and behavior are influenced by two virtual 3D shapes' projections - a 3D alternative crosswalk pattern and speed bumps consisted of triangular prisms. The results show statistically significant differences between drivers' willingness to reduce vehicle speed as a response to the two types of road markings: the first one with the square shape base (rectangular prism) and the second one with triangular shape base (triangular prism).

The traditional way of working on subjects from group based on engineering drawing using computers includes adequate theoretical training and practical exercises which are solved by drawing and constructing a pen and aids on paper. The modern method has brought numerous news. The tasks that were solved with a pen on paper, in this case, are solved by using computers and appropriate software tools. There has been a wide acceptance of CAD software packages. Spatial visualization skills is the ability to which it is the application of new technologies and specialized software had both a positive and a negative impact. Due to the great importance of this skill in all areas of engineering, it is necessary to work on its improvement. AB - Classical Descriptive Geometry (DG) course used 2D drawings for 3D spatial elements representation. Computer graphic introduced simulation of a 3D geometric environment in contemporary DG teaching. Research aim is the impact of CAD models utilization in correlation to students’ overall academic success. The research was performed on the freshmen students at Civil Engineering Faculty of Belgrade University. DG lecturing combines blackboard drawings, PowerPoint presentations and 3D AutoCAD models. Preparation of practices assumed handouts - AutoCAD solutions, both 2D drawings and 3D models available at the official Faculty's website. Paper based questionnaire was employed after the first examination term. The results show significant contribution to the students' achievement with 3D models assistance introduction in DG teaching/learning process.

AB - Children represent a vulnerable population from the standpoint of traffic safety. A modern traffic poses complex and high requirements to all its participants, and among them, particularly to young children. Children have a higher risk of pedestrian injuries. Children are experiencing experience traffic differently from adults. How do children view the world? What helps them to link with their environment? How do children imagine traffic signs? To address these questions, this study examines how fast the children (between 6 and 10 years of age) react to traffic signs mounted at different heights. The analysis of the results indicated that there were differences in mean reaction time for traffic signs of different heights. Children best perceive a traffic sign when it is mounted at 1.9 m. The research highlights the importance of ergonomic principles in choosing the appropriate height of traffic signs for children.
