Review of advanced procedures for testing of bitumen rheological characteristics and appropriate equipment in the pavement laboratory at the civil-engineering faculty

Abstract

SUPERPAVE methodology for investigation of performance based characteristics of binders is widely used, especially in the United States for more then ten years. SUPERPAVE methodology has found its way in binder characterization in Serbia as well. This paper presents basic concepts behind SUPERPAVE binder characterization, its implementation and practical approach for investigation on the newly installed equipment at the Laboratory for Pavement Materials at University of Belgrade. Also, results from testing of two modified binder candidates used during construction and rehabilitation of the wearing courses on Motorway Novi Sad - Belgrade are presented as well as some comments on the results obtained during testing.

U radu je predstavljena savremena metodologija za ispitivanje reoloških karakteristika bitumena i novoinstalirana oprema u Laboratoriji za kolovozne konstrukcije Građevinskog fakulteta u Beogradu. Pored toga, dati su i rezultati ispitivanja dva uzorka polimer-modifikovanog bitumena koji su korišćeni tokom 2007. godine za proizvodnju asfaltnih mešavina na projektu rehabilitacije postojećeg kolovoza na auto-putu Novi Sad - Beograd.
