Pushover analysis of RC frames with masonry infill

In the present paper, the methodology, suggested in FEMA guidelines for the evaluation of the seismic capacity of existing structures, is applied for the case of reinforced concrete frames with masonry infill. Calculations are carried out by the SAP2000. For the analysis, linear elements with appropriate plastic hinges are used for the modelling. Results from pushover analysis of three span bare frame, completely infilled frame and frame with infill only in the middle span. Also, numerical modelling of well known soft storey mechanism is shown. Results of numerical example confirm the expected inelastic behavior of frames with and without infill.
