Abstract
This paper deals with the analysis of the dynamic response of the flexible strip foundation resting on the surface of the soil. Plane strain steady state analysis is considered. The cross section of the foundation behaves as an Euler-Bernoulli beam. There is no sliding between the foundation and the soil. The problem is solved using sub-structuring technique, considering two sub-structures: the foundation and the soil. The foundation is modeled using the Dynamic stiffness method (DSM) and the soil using the Integral transform method (ITM). Both DSM and ITM are based on Fourier transforms, operating in space-frequency or wavenumber-frequency domain. The coupling of the sub-structures is obtained using modal superposition approach. Vertical and horizontal response of the strip foundation is calculated for different soil/foundation stiffness ratio and for different frequencies. Presented results show the influence of the excitation frequency and foundation stiffness on displacement f...ield of the foundation.
