Abstract
The pressurized pipeline fluid transport is supposed to be cheap, reliable and efficient. If buried, pipelines are hard observable by means of leaks, minor cracks and asset damages. These phenomena can influence both the fluid quality and the state of the surrounding environment. Hydraulic transients are described as the potential cause of fluids exchange (water is supposed here as fluid). The basics of hydraulic transient analysis are given. Pipeline system monitoring importance is emphasized. The laboratory transient research set-up is presented and some comments on the experimental results are given. .
