The ''Systema cosmicum'' or ''Dialogis.'' was first published in Latin in 1632. and earned Galileo a life imprisonment because, according the Catholic hierarchy, he overstated the case of Copernicus, against Aristotle and Ptolemy's. Copernicus maintained that the Earth was moving around the Sun. The second book on mechanics is considered by Dictionary of Scientific Biography to be the first modern textbook on physics. Newton claimed he derived the first two laws of motion from this book.
