Interoperability of Railway Infrastructure in the Republic of Serbia
Abstract
The competitiveness of the railway transport is still limited by the
differences in terms of infrastructure, rolling stock, transport technology,
maintenance strategy, signaling systems, electrification systems, safety regulations,
and speed limits. These circumstances force international trains to stop at
state borders. Interoperability of railway infrastructure in the Republic of Serbia
should allow safe and uninterrupted movement of trains. This paper presents the
technical measures applied on the Serbian railway infrastructure in order to
interoperate with the European railway network. Basic parameters corresponding
to the essential requirements for infrastructure subsystem were presented.
Furthermore, paper considers the interoperability constituents and experience
regarding reconstruction and modernization on Corridor X through Serbia.
