Abstract
Lack of good-quality natural aggregates well as the problem of removal and disposal of large quantities of demolished concrete waste, represent significant challenges in contemporary civil engineering. The testing results of properties of recycled concrete aggregate are presented in the first part of the paper. The second part deals with experimental research on properties of fresh and hardened concrete made with 50% substitution of coarse river aggregate by recycled concrete. Four series of concrete specimens were tested, two of which were made with addition of steel fibers. The research included testing of the following properties: density, compressive strength, splitting tensile strength, adhesion by pull-off method, static modulus of elasticity, as well as the impact resistance. The obtained results indicate that recycled concrete aggregate can be successfully applied for production of steel fiber reinforced concrete
