Application of CFRP plates for strengthening of timber beams

Primena karbonskih traka za ojačanje drvenih nosača

Abstract
Fiber reinforced polymer (FRP) composites have largely been used in combination with concrete and masonry structural elements in last decade. The fiber’s excellent mechanical properties, light weight, wide variety of available size and shapes, and easy installation procedure made these products appear very promising to apply in timber structure. This study investigated the possibility of using carbon FRP plates as reinforcement of timber beams. An experimental program based on a four-point bending test is proposed to characterize flexural response of CFRP-glulam beams. Experimental results showed that CFRP reinforcement positioned in the more highly stressed tension region at the bottom of the glulam beam may produce increases in strength and stiffness as well as ductility.
U poslednjih desetak godina FRP kompoziti se intenzivno koriste u kombinaciji sa armirano betonskim i zidanim konstrukcijskim elementima. Odlične mehaničke karakteristike, mala sopstvena težina, izuzetna mnogostranost i jednostavnost čine kompozitne materijale podesnim za primenu i u drvenim konstrukcijama. Ovim istraživanjem ispituju se mogućnosti primene karbonskih traka kao ojačanja drvenih nosača. Eksperimentalni program sproveden je sa ciljem utvrđivanja ponašanja pri savijanju lepljenih lameliranih drvenih nosača ojačanih karbonskim trakama. Rezultati ispitivanja pokazali su da postavljanje karbonskog ojačanja u zonu najvećih napona zatezanja, sa donje strane nosaca, može dovesti do povećanja nosivosti i krutosti, kao i duktilnosti.
