Abstract
In this paper, analytical solutions for static analysis of simply supported composite plates, based on generalized laminate plate theory (GLPT) are presented. The theory accounts for transverse shear deformation and layer wise description of the in plane displacements of the laminate. The Navier-type closed form solutions are derived for various distributions of transverse pressures (harmonic, constant, triangular and tent-like). The results are compared with the 3-D elasticity solutions and excellent agreement is found. .
