AB - The propagation of the Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) signals through the atmosphere is affected by the electron content in the ionosphere and the air density in the electrically neutral troposphere, thus causing a signal delay and leading to errors in the GNSS observations and the estimated positions. Our research has been conducted related to the influence of the tropospheric layer of the Earth's atmosphere on signals at geodetic observation stations in the zenith direction. Since tropospheric refraction cannot be directly estimated, the signal delay has been quantified by applying several developed models. As the lowest layer of the atmosphere, the average height of the troposphere is approximately ten kilometers, and it is variable concerning the latitude of the measuring station and seasonal conditions. The tropospheric delay of the GNSS signal - Zenith Total Delay (ZTD), was analyzed on the examples of three International GNSS Service (IGS) stations at different latitudes. Two epochs in July 2022 and January 2023 for each IGS station are considered regarding seasonal differences in the atmospheric parameters. It was found that at each of the IGS stations, there is an oscillation of the ZTD amplitude with a half-day period. Different patterns were distinguished at each station, depending on the station latitude and epoch, i.e., summer or winter atmospheric conditions. For example, a random walk signal was dominant at the ROAG, San Fernando IGS station.

AB - The main source of the seismic energy on the territory of the Republic of Serbia is connected with the primary tectonic contact between the Eurasian and African/Arabian plates along the coast of the Adriatic Sea and the Balkan Peninsula. This geotectonic collision -compression contact represents a source of tectonic stress whose accumulated energy is transmitting to his background and is realized in the form of earthquakes.
Based on the available seismic hazard maps, considering both different return periods of macroseismic intensity and different seismic zones, displacement fields of various civil engineering structures (i.e. large reinforced concrete frame or shear wall buildings, bridge structures etc.) will be assessed using an approach based on the precise geodetic observations.
The permanent CORS GPS network of Serbia with an average stations distance of 60 km is used as a basis for monitoring and determining the values of ground deformations and objects displacements. The permanent stations network will be more spatially densified in each specific area by the appropriate stations of the SREF network (average stations distance 10 km) and the local network points of the civil engineering structures individually.
In this way each local stations network of the construction objects particularly, should be specially designed depending on the given conditions of this civil engineering structures which will allow a better understanding of seismological impacts.

AB - Californian hydroclimate is strongly seasonal and prone to severe water shortages. Recent changes in climate trends have induced shifts in seasonality, thus exacerbating droughts, wildfires, and adverse water shortage effects on the environment and economy. Previous studies have examined the timing of the seasonal cycle shifts mainly as temperature driven earlier onset of the spring season. In this paper, we address quantitative changes in the onset, amounts, and termination of the precipitation season over the past 6 decades, as well as the large‐scale atmospheric circulation underpinning the seasonal cycle changes. We discover that the onset of the rainy season has been progressively delayed since the 1960s, and as a result the precipitation season has become shorter and sharper in California. The progressively later onset of the rainy season is shown to be related to the summer circulation pattern extending into autumn across the North Pacific, in particular, a delay in the strengthening of the Aleutian Low and later southward displacement of the North Pacific westerlies.

AB - This research aimed to inspect the correlation coefficients, during the crop growth stages, between vegetation indices (VIs) derived from Sentinel-2 imagery and grain winter wheat yield derived from yield monitoring and select the most promising indices for monitoring crop growth and yield estimation. METHOD / DESIGN: The satellite images in 10m resolution were selected based on crop growth stages, from the end of tillering phase (beginning of March 2019) until the full ripening (end of June 2019). For the analysis, the BBCH-scale for cereals was used. Yield observations were performed at harvest on five fields in one season and twelve VIs were calculated across 10 growth stages. To designate their correlation and dependence, a statistical comparison of the VIs and yield was made. The Pearson’s and Spearman’s correlation coefficients were calculated, and their statistical significance was tested using p-value (at p=0.01, p=0.05). RESULTS: According to the crop growth stages, the highest correlation coefficients were detected from the early boot stage (BBCH 41) until the middle of development of the fruiting stage (BBCH 73 – early milk). In that period the correlation coefficients varied from 0.39 to 0.84 depending on the field. Based on the location, the highest correlation coefficient values for all 12 indices were recorded for the parcel named C-6 (April 15), and the lowest values for the parcel named C-10 (June 29). Most of the indices showed statistically significant dependence (at the p<0.01 and p<0.05 significant levels) on the yield in the first five growth stages except the chlorophyll vegetation index (CVI) for the parcel named C-11 (p=0.21, p=0.39). CONCLUSIONS: To conclude, the last growth stage named ripening showed the lowest values both for correlation coefficient and statistical significance which means that VIs also had low values because the reflectance is weak in this growth stage and wheat is about to be harvested. In the first five stages, VIs showed significantly high spectral reflectance values since in this period the leaf is full of chlorophyll pigments. Analyzing the correlation coefficient in different stages of wheat growth, we look at the current state of crops and have the opportunity to take appropriate measures in time to increase yields or save inputs at specific locations.

AB - The paper describes the optimal model for coordinate transformation between ETRS89 and old national reference system in the Republic of Srpska. The Helmert`s parameters were estimated, based on a set of 1 741 common points. The average magnitude of residuals was 0.3 m per coordinate and the residual vectors were homogeneous at the local level. The basic model was complemented by a corrections grid that uses bilinear interpolation. The accuracy of the transformed horizontal positions obtained by this model is about 10 cm. In this way, a link between the ETRS89 and local reference system has been established on the overall territory of the Republic of Srpska.

abstract = "The paper describes the optimal model for coordinate transformation between ETRS89 and old national reference system in the Republic of Srpska. In this way, a link between the ETRS89 and local reference system has been established on the overall territory of the Republic of Srpska.",

AB - This paper is dedicated to modeling extreme TEC (Total Electron Content) values at the territory of Serbia. For the extreme TEC values, we consider the maximum values from the peak of the 11-year cycle of solar activity in the years 2013, 2014 and 2015 for the days of the winter and summer solstice and autumnal and vernal equinox. The average TEC values between 10 and 12 UT (Universal Time) were treated. As the basic data for all processing, we used GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite System) observation obtained by three permanent stations located in the territory of Serbia. Those data, we accept as actual, i. e. as a "true TEC values". The main objectives of this research were to examine the possibility to use two machine learning techniques: neural networks and support vector machine. In order to emphasize the quality of applied techniques, all results are adequately compared to the TEC values obtained by using International Reference Ionosphere global model. In addition, we separately analyzed the quality of techniques throughout temporal and spatial-temporal approach.

AB - To understand general ionosphere properties over Serbia, an analysis of temporal and spatial ionosphere Total Electron Content (TEC) over the region was performed. The present research focuses on daily, seasonal and spatial ionosphere variations, based on TEC series calculated from the GNSS ie. GPS measurements. This analysis provides for characterization of ionosphere nature and fine structure over Serbia, both locally and regionally. For the days with high solar activity changes of TEC values ranges from minimum 4 Total Electron Content Units (TECU), in night hours, up to 55 TECU around the noon. It is shown that that changes are equivalent to the to the delay of GPS signals approximately 8.8 m in in vertical direction during the (maximum) daily conditions and the delay of 0.6 m during the (minimum) night conditions. Also, it is shows that a seasonal TEC differences follows directly Son activity during the seasons, and maximal differences of TEC values between the seasons reaching values of 45 TECU, again in the years of high Son's activities. For spatial changes all gained results indicate that there exist changes in all directions which cannot be recognized as constant bias or a trend.

AB - This study considers the spatial and temporal dimensions of demographic trends in Serbia between 1961 and 2010. Using appropriate spatial autocorrelation statistics, spatial patterns of common demographic indicators including changes in population size, the rate of natural increase and infant mortality rate are investigated across municipalities of Serbia. Also, the impact of differential demographic rates according to ethnic origin on forming spatial clusters is implicitly considered. Different stages of demographic transition across municipalities at the start of the analyzed period determined the spatial pattern of clustered subregions; ethnic origin appeared to be a strong factor of differentiation regarding population dynamics. The two opposed areas regarding the transition of rates of natural increase and infant mortality were clustered; the southern included Kosovo and the least developed subregions of Central Serbia. The City of Belgrade and Kosovo have been the two hubs of population growth in Serbia over the past 50 years, while the strongest depopulation refers to the north and east border regions.

AB - One of the most important parameters in ionospheric plasma research, also having a wide practical application in wireless satellite telecommunications, is the total electron content (TEC) representing the columnal electron number density. The F-region with high electron density provides the biggest contribution to TEC while the relatively weakly ionized plasma of the D-region (60 km 90 km above Earth's surface) is often considered as a negligible cause of satellite signal disturbances. However, sudden intensive ionization processes, like those induced by solar X-ray flares, can cause relative increases of electron density that are significantly larger in the D-region than in regions at higher altitudes. Therefore, one cannot exclude a priori the D-region from investigations of ionospheric influences on propagation of electromagnetic signals emitted by satellites. We discuss here this problem which has not been sufficiently treated in literature so far. The obtained results are based on data collected from the D-region monitoring by very low frequency radio waves and on vertical TEC calculations from the Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) signal analyses, and they show noticeable variations in the D-region's electron content (TECD) during activity of a solar X-ray flare (it rises by a factor of 136 in the considered case) when TECD contribution to TEC can reach several percent and which cannot be neglected in practical applications like global positioning procedures by satellites.

AB - The spatial analysis of annual and seasonal temperature trends in Serbia during the period 1961-2010 was carried out using mean monthly data from 64 meteorological stations. Change year detection was achieved using cumulative sum charts. The magnitude of trends was derived from the slopes of linear trends using the least square method. The same formalism of least square method was used to assess the statistical significance of the determined trends. Maps of temperature trends were generated by applying a spatial regression method to visualize the detected tendencies. The obtained results indicate a negative temperature trend for the period before the change year except for winter and a more pronounced positive trend after the change year. Besides being more pronounced, the vast majority of trends after the change year were also clearly statistically significant. Our estimate of the average temperature trend over Serbia is in agreement with those obtained at the global and European scale. Calculated global autocorrelation statistics (Moran's I) indicate an apparent random spatial pattern of temperature trends across the Serbia for both periods before and after the change year.

abstract = "The spatial analysis of annual and seasonal temperature trends in Serbia during the period 1961-2010 was carried out using mean monthly data from 64 meteorological stations. Calculated global autocorrelation statistics (Moran's I) indicate an apparent random spatial pattern of temperature trends across the Serbia for both periods before and after the change year.",

AB - This study examines the spatial pattern of relationships between annual, seasonal and monthly rainfall in Serbia, and the North Atlantic Oscillation (NAO) for the period of 1961-2009. The first correlation analysis between rainfall and the NAO was performed using a Pearson product-moment test. Results suggested negative, mainly statistically significant correlations at annual and winter scales as was expected. However, the highest percentage of stations showed significant result in October suggesting a strong impact of a large scale atmospheric mode throughout a wet season in Serbia. Further spatial analysis that incorporated a spatial autocorrelation statistic of correlation coefficients showed significant clustering at all temporal scales.

AB - This paper examines a spatial pattern of annual, seasonal and monthly rainfall trends in Serbia. The study used data from 63 weather stations between the period of 1961-2009. The rainfall series was examined by applying the nonparametric method of the Mann-Kendall test and Sen's method to determine the significance and magnitude of the trends. Significant trends have not been detected for the whole country at an annual scale. Seasonal trends at the confidence level of 97.5 %, however, indicate a slight decrease in winter (5 stations out of 63) and spring (7 stations out of 63) precipitation and an increase in autumn precipitation (10 stations out of 63). Results for monthly rainfall trends also generally showed a nonsignificant trend with the exception of a negative trend in May (6 stations out of 63) and positive trend for October (9 stations out of 63). Calculated global autocorrelation statistics (Moran's I) indicate a random spatial pattern of rainfall trends on annual, seasonal and monthly timescales with exceptions for March, June and November. Overall, results suggest that only weak, mostly nonsignificant trends are present in Serbia in the period 1961-2009.

AB - This study compares a series of global geopotential models (GGMs) using
available terrestrial data from the territory of Libya. The anomalies of free air were
determined in points of gravimetric survey of Libya by using the model of European Improved
Gravity 6C2 (EIGEN-6C2), the model of the Earth Gravitational Model 2008 (EGM2008), as
well as model of the Earth Gravitational Model 1996 (EGM96). The points of gravimetric
survey of Libya are related to International Terrestrial Reference Frame (ITRF2000),
Geodetic Reference System 1980 (GRS80), International Gravity Standardization Net 1971
(IGSN71) and the levelling network of Libya. Free air anomalies were evaluated at the points
of gravimetric survey. Along with all mentioned above the results gained by using said models
were separately compared with the data obtained by using the Earth Gravitational Model
(EGM96).

Abstract. The subject of this paper is to investigate the contribution of GPS coordinate time series to the development of the International Terrestrial Reference Frame (ITRF). The analysis of the GPS data sets should not only detect possible trends but should also discover offsets or discontinuities caused by natural processes like sudden crustal movements and earthquakes, as well as those caused by artificial events and man-made activities.
This kind of analysis is important because it contributes to the understanding of Reference Frame stability and enables deeper insight into local, regional, and global geodynamical processes. The paper describes the strategy and some results obtained by the analysis of data from Reference GNSS stations located in the Republic of Serbia.

The paper describes the strategy and some results obtained by the analysis of data from Reference GNSS stations located in the Republic of Serbia.",

AB - This paper recommends computational procedures for employing auxiliary maps, such as maps of drainage patterns, land cover and remote-sensing-based indices, directly in the geostatistical modeling of topography. The methodology is based on the regression-kriging technique, as implemented in the R package gstat. The computational procedures are illustrated using a case study in the south-west part of Serbia. Two point data sets were used for geostatistical modeling: (I) 2051 elevation points were used to generate DEMs and (2) an independent error assessment data set (1020 points) was used to assess errors in the topo-DEM and the SRTM-DEM. Four auxiliary maps were used to improve generation of DEMs from point data: (1) distance to streams, (2) terrain complexity measured by standard deviation filter, (3) analytical hillshading map and (4) NDVI map derived from the Landsat image. The auxiliary predictors were significantly correlated with elevations (adj.R-2 = 0.20) and DEM errors (adj.R-2 = 0.27). By including auxiliary maps in the geostatistical modeling of topography, realizations of DEMs can be generated that represent geomorphology of a terrain more accurately. In addition, downscaling of a coarse 3 arcsec SRTM DEM using auxiliary maps and regression-kriging is demonstrated using the same case study. A methodological advantage of regression-kriging, compared to splines, is the possibility to automate the data processing and incorporate multiple auxiliary predictors. The remaining open issues are computational efficiency, application of local regression-kriging algorithms and preparation of suitable auxiliary data layers for such analyses.

AB - During the last decade, the development of computational technique has influenced wider implementation of numerical methods in different software applications, which are oriented to processing, presentation, and analysis of spatial data. This is particularly the case for geostatistical methods, which were developed for analysis of the data, which include spatial components. Those methods provide analytical processing and description of spatial continuity, which is an important characteristic for numerous natural phenomena. Implementation of classical statistical methods does not allow the perception of spatial distribution of natural phenomena. The development GIS (Geographical Information Systems) applications, especially geostatistical modules, enabled a lot of users dealing with spatial modeling and analysis to apply them in their work.
