AB - The main aim of conducted research is determination of temperature stresses due to the uneven temperature
distribution in CWR. This paper presents a methodology for determination of temperature stresses
in CWR based on (1) measurement system developed by the authors for measurement of rail surface temperatures,
and (2) coupled transient thermal-stress analysis for simulation of rail temperature field and
corresponding stresses. The main advantages of the proposed methodology are high sensitivity to the
small temperature variations, taking into account the effect of thermal inertia, as well as measurement
of single input parameter - rail surface temperature. The obtained experimental results showed lower rail
temperatures in sleeper zones and rail foot along CWR, which emphasize the effect of heat transfer
between rail and sleeper, as well as rail foot and ballast. These effects of heat transfer directly influence
the decrease of temperature stresses in the mentioned zones of CWR. The maximum values of simulated
temperature stresses are up to 16% less in the centre of gravity of railhead, up to 9.8% less in the centre of
gravity of rail foot, and up to 0.2% less in the centre of gravity of rail web, compared to the common engineering
calculation. In addition, the maximum value of simulated temperature force, based on temperature
stresses in the rail cross-section, was up to 5.3% less than the value obtained in the common
engineering calculation.

AB - The railway track with continuously welded rails is an essential part of
the modern railway superstructure around the world. Calculation of the temperature
stresses in continuously welded rails has great significance for the planning
of maintenance activities in order to maintain traffic safety (risk of derailment due
to either rail break, or track buckling). This paper presents the finite element model
for calculation of rail stresses and displacements due to the temperature changes,
which was developed by the authors. The monitoring of the track sections, which
are significant regarding traffic safety, was suggested in this paper.

AB - Based on the railway network performance, Infrastructure Manager is obligated to define the Maintenance plan for railway infrastructure, which contains corresponding values for intervention limits and alert limits. This paper considers vehicle response to track excitation due to the rail defect (code 2202 according to defect classification). It is indicated that theoretical models and acceleration measurements could be used to assess the quality of track geometry and ride comfort. The importance of early detection of irregularities of superstructure and substructure was emphasized. Moreover, the importance of inspection and preventive maintenance on the modern railway infrastructure was considered. According to the previous, the authors recommend nondestructive methods for inspection and early detection of irregularities of railway infrastructure.

AB - The quality of sleeper support plays an important role in static and
dynamic behavior of ballasted track. Sleepers in track should be well supported
in vertical, lateral and longitudinal direction. Irregular vertical support (along zaxis)
leads to significant increase in dynamic forces in the wheel-rail contact
(increase up to 80% comparing to the sections with regular sleeper support).
Irregular lateral support (along y-axis) reduces track lateral stability and
increases the susceptibility to track buckling. Longitudinal support (along xaxis)
is important for the behavior of the continuously welded rails. In the
previous research conducted by the authors, application of micro-tremor analysis
for determination of vertical sleeper support was considered. This paper
investigates its further application for assessment of sleeper support in lateral
and longitudinal direction. The obtained results are presented and discussed.

AB - Vehicle/track/bridge interaction causes additional stresses in CWR on the bridge, which include stress in rails due to temperature changes in the bridge deck, vertical bending of bridge deck, and braking/acceleration of railway vehicles on the bridge deck. Critical analysis of additional tensile stresses in CWR on the bridge using Smith diagram was performed and presented in this paper. Furthermore, results of rail temperature measuring at several monitoring locations in Serbia were presented. The influence of the local climate conditions and neutral rail temperature on the temperature stress in CWR was analysed. The paper points out that the prescribed values of additional stresses in CWR have to include influence of real local climate conditions on track stability on the bridge.

AB - This paper proposes a methodology for statistical analysis of data obtained by visual inspection of squat defects on the rail head. Rail inspection by visual observation, including measurement of the squat defect position and depth was performed in Pančevo Varoš railway station in 2017. The obtained data about the squat rail defect (defect type 227 according to the UIC 712) on the main tracks was analysed in this paper. The rail defect position was determined regarding the position of the nearest sleeper in the track. Statistical analysis of the occurrence of squat rail defect was conducted according to the performed visual inspection in the field. Statistical data processing was performed for tracks zones according to the vertical stiffness of rail support. Furthermore, the impact of traffic load, the type and the arrangement of sleepers on the appearance of the squat rail defect was considered.

AB - The residual stresses in rails are generated during the manufacturing process and have uneven distribution in rail cross section. The residual stress is a part of basic tensile stress in rail foot. For used rail, the residual stress value of 80 MPa is commonly used in the engineering calculations. On the other hand, the standard EN 13674 prescribes residual stress values up to 250 MPa and destructive method using electrical strain gauge for measurement of rail residual stress. Since destructive measurement methods are unsuitable for use in the track, the possible non-destructive in situ methods for measuring of residual stresses in the rails are discussed in this paper. The fundamentals of X-ray diffraction, ultrasonic, magnetic and electromagnetic methods are explained, as well as, their advantages and disadvantages.

AB - The Institute for Standardization of Serbia has adopted a large number of en standards in the field of bridges as Serbian standards. Unfortunately, technical regulations based on the implementation of the adopted en standards in the field of bridges are still not made. The paper presents requirements for railway bridges based on en standards, UIC leaflets and German technical regulations. The aspect of track/bridge interaction is primarily considered. The parameters of track/bridge interaction, principles of calculation, as well as the overview of open points are presented. As the most important parameters of the bridge structure were considered: bridge expansion length, stiffness of the bridge substructure, as well as the bending stiffness and height of the bridge deck. Further, the effects of vertical load, temperature changes, and acceleration/breaking of the vehicle on the mentioned interaction are especially analysed. In addition, the conclusions of the paper apply to both ballasted track and slab track. The aim of the paper is to create a basis for the harmonisation of technical regulations in Serbia with European regulations in order to meet the requirements of interoperability.
Primarno se obrađuje aspekt interakcije kolosek/most.

AB - The paper presents principle of track/bridge interaction in the case of temperature gradient, breaking and acceleration of railway vehicles. Influence of different bridge structures to the bridge expansion length was analysed for the purpose of expansion joint avoiding in CWR track. This would lead to the reduction of noise and vibration emission from railway traffic and maintenance activities, which is especially important in the urban environment. Additional stresses in track were considered according to the type of track and bridge deck, type of bridge bearings, as well as bridge support stiffness. Conclusion of this paper provides basic stances that could be used for the calculation of different railway bridge structures. The aim of the paper is providing the basis for improvement of the existing technical regulations in the field of railway infrastructure, as well as its harmonisation with EU regulations.

AB - This paper analyses the stresses in continuous welded rails on bridges including the aspect of fatigue of rail steel. Furthermore, it examines the possibility to avoid rail expansion joints, while simultaneously exploiting the permissible stress capacity of the rail profile 60E1. Accordingly, general application of permissible values of pressure and tensilestresses prescribed in the current European standards was critically analysed. Paper includes specific application aspects of the prescribed stress values for railway bridges in Serbia. General algorithm for reducing the stresses due to the vehicle/track/bridge interaction, which is presented in this paper, was developed by the authors. This algorithm includes all essential parameters of the bridge structure and railway superstructure, as well as the influence of climate conditions and railway route design.

AB - Accessible railway platforms are an important part of modern railway infrastructure. Accessibility for all passenger categories, including people with reduced mobility (PRM), is one of basic and mandatory requirements for new and reconstructed European railway infrastructure. According to the results of the research conducted within the framework of the Visegrád Group (cultural and political alliance of four Central European nations – Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland and Slovakia, that are members of the European Union) in 2015, the existing railway platforms and passenger information systems represent serious barriers for PRM passengers (especially for people in wheelchair, with crutches, with baby prams, as well as for blind and visually impaired passengers). This paper deals with design requirements for railway platforms from the aspect of accessibility, tactile walking surface indicators and acoustic information for blind and visually impaired passengers. Paper analyses legal framework and shows examples of practical application of accessibility standards in Czech Republic and the Republic of Serbia. Furthermore, it provides concrete recommendations for barrier-free design of railway platforms

AB - At the railway/road level crossings, two essentially different modes of transport intersect, both with a variety of vehicle performance parameters and traffic organization rules. Level crossing presents a collision zone for both transport modes from the aspect of traffic safety. Unfortunately, the probability of accidents at level crossings is still high. Railway Infrastructure Manager controls only one part of the problem (traffic management and ensuring the safety of level crossings using technical equipment and signalization). Level crossings are not always avoidable on the existing railway lines, although the preferred solution is overpass crossing. On the European railway network, level crossings occur even on the reconstructed railway lines for speeds up to 200 km/h, with the appropriate design principles and safety measures for both transport modes. This paper describes the basic design principles for the level crossings where rail vehicles reach speeds up to 200 km/h, as well as the review of the necessary measures to increase safety level.

AB - This article presents results obtained in the research conducted on railway infrastructure in Serbia, which aimed at prediction of substructure condition based on the analysis of track quality. It presents the results of seismic tomography application as non-destructive procedure for assessment of railway substructure condition. Track geometry quality was assessed according to analysis of longitudinal level data, which was recorded during regular track geometry inspections. Track section for application of seismic tomography was chosen on the basis of analysed track geometry data recorded during the regular track geometry inspections in 2006, 2008, 2009, 2012, 2013 and 2014. Tomographic imaging of railway platform on Test Section enabled the creation of two-dimensional finite element model, which was used for determination of propagation speed of seismic P-waves. Seismic tomography on Test Section, which is the part of the international railway line Belgrade–Vrbnica, was performed in 2014. Obtained tomographic image was discussed and compared to track geometry data recorded during the regular track geometry inspections.

AB - Transport represents both need and threat to the modern human society. European transport policy aims at sustainable transport development based on the efficient use of natural resources, protection and improvement of environment, as well as the real and diverse needs of potential users. The paper points out that the development of railway infrastructure is a necessary but not sufficient condition for shaping the sustainable mobility. Railway infrastructure has to meet the requirements of the society, economy, protection and improvement of the environment. In general, electrification of railways leads to reduction of the carbon footprint. On the other hand, thermal power plants in Serbia are the main suppliers of electric power. The results of previous geotechnical laboratory testing showed that investigated fly ash could be suitable for utilisation in the railway infrastructure. This paper presents the results of laboratory tests to determine the presence of radionuclides and trace elements in fly ash samples.

AB - Track stiffness is a parameter which significantly influences to the track geometry
deterioration, rail fatigue and deterioration of other superstructure and substructure components
during the track service life. Track stiffness measurement has great theoretical and practical
importance for the design of new railway lines, as well as for upgrade and maintenance of existing
railway lines. This paper analyses standstill and continuous measurement methods for static and
dynamic track stiffness, which are used worldwide. In addition, it presents measurement
principles and performances used for inspection vehicles and devices, and guidelines for selection
of the optimal method for stiffness measurement depending on the user requirements.

AB - This paper deals with actual European "modal shift to rail transport" concept and related environmental issues and experience in the Republic of Serbia. The planned increase in volume of railway transport and planned railway electrification should reduce air pollution in Serbia, particularly in the urban environment. On the other hand, achieving this goal would lead to the increase in noise level in the urban environment and environmental issues in the region of thermal power plants, which are the main sources of electricity in Serbia. This paper suggests concrete measures to reduce the railway carbon footprint and noise level during the planning, design and service life of railway infrastructure.

AB - The paper presents basic principles of bridge structure behaviour from the aspect of
track-bridge interaction in the case of temperature gradient, breaking and acceleration of railway
vehicles. The paper analyses influence of different bridge structures to the bridge expansion
length. In addition, influence of bridge superstructure, as well as bridge support stiffness was
analysed. In the conclusion, there were presented basic observations of conducted analyses that
could be applied for the calculation of different railway bridge structures. The aim of this paper
is providing the basis for improvement of the existing technical regulations in the field of railway
infrastructure, as well as its harmonisation with EU regulations.

AB - This paper discusses the basic principles of interaction track/bridge. Influences of different bridge structures on the bridge expansion length were analyzed in order to avoid expansion joints in CWR track. Influences of track and bridge superstructure, as well as bridge support stiffness on the mentioned interaction were considered. In addition, performance requirements for rail fastening systems and longitudinal track restraint on bridge were considered. UIC (International Union of Railways) recommendations for design of railway bridges were presented. The aim of this paper is providing the basis for improvement of the existing technical regulations in the field of railway infrastructure, as well as its harmonisation with EU regulations.
AB - Ovaj rad razmatra osnovne principe interakcije kolosek/most.
