AB  - In certain cases, solar panels are placed on suitable structures that are supported on the ground,
and this includes the appropriate dimensioning of anchor supports, i.e. suppor elements, within the
framework of the concrete construction project. Bearing in mind the great variations in soil qualiy
and different ambient conditions that depend on the location, different ways of dimensioning have
been developed, from experiential, through those defined based on soil conditions and theoretical
models, and to numerical ones characterized by the appropriate degree of accuracy. The paper
presents the principle of in situ testing of the load capacity of trial anchors using specially
developed apparatus, in order to check the designed conditions and possible correction of this part
of the construction project.

AB  - U ovom radu ispitani su različiti tipovi kompozitnih materijala, koji su po sastavu većim delom od cementa, a jednim delom od recikliranog otpadnog praškastog materijala, neutrala. Ispitivanja su obuhvatila uticaj kompozitnih materijala na kvalitet vode u šaržnom sistemu. Ispitani su ključni parametri na osnovu kojih se može oceniti uticaj na promenu kvaliteta vode. Deo materijala čini i reciklirani otpadni materijal koji ima komercijalni naziv „neutral“. Neutral nastaje od sirovine koju predstavljaju različiti tipovi (često opasnog) otpada, koji se u reaktoru sa kalcijum-oksidom prevodi u prah koji se može koristiti kao beozopasan. Ovo istraživanje predstavlja preliminarna ispitivanja koaj će ukazati na mogućnost korišćenja neutrala kao materijal koji bi, u kontaktu sa vodom, otpuštao zagađujuće materije u ekološki prihvatljivom obimu i/ili ne.

AB  - Индустрија цемента сматра се једним од значајнијих узрочника емисије СО2. У циљу изналажења рјешења овој проблематици у раду се предлаже замјена 17,5% потребне количине цемента за производњу самоуграђујућег бетона минералним додацима. Експерименталним истраживањем на четири врсте самоуграђујућих бетона варирана је врста минералног додатка – бетон без минералних додатака, кречњачко брашно, електрофилтерски пепео и комбинација кречњачког брашна и електрофилтерског пепела. У том смислу наглашава се да је електрофилтерски пепео примијењен оригинално, какав је као нуспроизвод настао у термоелектрани, тј. није извршено његово просијавање или додатна обрада прије употребе. Резултати истраживања показују да примјена минералних додатака нема утицај на чврстоћу бетона при старости од 2 дана, али утиче на смањење чврстоће бетона при притиску за старости веће од 2 дана. При томе, значајнији утицај има електрофилтерски пепео. Ипак, тај утицај је у функцији времена опадајућег карактера, са тенденцијом да бетони са минералним додацима достигну чврстоће бетона без минералних додатака у старостима већим од 28 дана.

Експерименталним истраживањем на четири врсте самоуграђујућих бетона варирана је врста минералног додатка – бетон без минералних додатака, кречњачко брашно, електрофилтерски пепео и комбинација кречњачког брашна и електрофилтерског пепела. У том смислу наглашава се да је електрофилтерски пепео примијењен оригинално, какав је као нуспроизвод настао у термоелектрани, тј. није извршено његово просијавање или додатна обрада прије употребе. Резултати истраживања показују да примјена минералних додатака нема утицај на чврстоћу бетона при старости од 2 дана, али утиче на смањење чврстоће бетона при притиску за старости веће од 2 дана. При томе, значајнији утицај има електрофилтерски пепео. Ипак, тај утицај је у функцији времена опадајућег карактера, са тенденцијом да бетони са минералним додацима достигну чврстоће бетона без минералних додатака у старостима већим од 28 дана.",

AB  - Implementation of statistical analysis for monitoring the formation and propagation of defects that occurred due to exposure of the material to thermal shock and cavitation is presented in this study. Results of two groups of materials are shown: refractory concrete sintered at three temperatures and ceramic materials based on cordierite and zircon. Alumina- based refractory concretes were subjected to thermal stability test, while the surface morphological changes regarding the defects were monitored after a certain number of thermal shock cycles. Cordierite and zircon based materials were initially subjected to cavitation testing while after specified time periods, morphological changes in the surface defects were analyzed. Besides the standardized methods, non-destructive testing of materials was applied for monitoring the surface changes. Cameras, microscopes, and numerous software enable recording images of sample surface with appropriate magnifications as well as monitoring and quantifying the surface damage degree with various image analysis tools. Thus, this approach offers the quantification of selected morphological descriptors regarding the defects. Obtained values were then subjected to pattern recognition method, the principal component analysis that can provide information on extracted morphological descriptors by describing the main difference among observed defects and identifying variations among them. As a result, a better insight into surface degradation that occurs during exposure to extreme conditions was obtained. The multivariate analysis provided grouping and thus reduction of the descriptors while maintaining the highest percentage of variance unchangeable. More precisely, the analysis extracted the most informative descriptors that should be observed for monitoring changes in surface defects and determining a degradation mechanism.

AB  - The applicability of solid bricks waste in geopolymerization technique was considered. Waste samples were characterized in terms of mineralogical composition by XRD prior to mechanical testing. XRD analysis showed that both brick samples contained anorthite, wollastonite, and mullite as the main components. The compressive strength investigation was carried out by screening method with three geopolymer mixtures. Geopolymer mixtures were prepared with alkaline activators; the mixtures were poured into molds and air-dried for 28 days. The compressive strength of samples was measured according to the standard SRPS EN 12390-3:2010 for cubic samples. The compressive strength values ranged from 9.8 MPa for the newer solid brick, 10.2 MPa for the older solid brick, and 10.5 MPa for the solid brick mix waste geopolymer sample. The most likely underlying reason for the higher compressive strength results of the older solid brick and the mixed sample is their mineral composition, i.e. higher proportion of aluminosilicate. However, all samples showed satisfactory compressive strengths, and it represents an excellent basis for further research.

AB  - This paper aims to examine the applicability of thick-film piezo-resistive sensors on steel bars for the structural health monitoring purposes. A thick film ceramic piezo-resistive sensor was manufactured and used to investigate the possibility of its application on a bar. To form the device, Bi2Ru2O7 resistive thick-film composition was used in combination with Pd/Ag conductive composition on alumina ceramic substrates. Six conductive pads divided the resistor into seven identical segments. Sensor was subjected to a three-point bending test. After it was glued to a steel bar like a common foil strain gauge, a four-point bending test was performed on a sensor placed on the upper side of the bar. Under strain, sensor experienced reversible deformation that was registered as a change in the resistivity of the film. Evaluation of the sensor included measurements of the resistance change under the applied strain, determination of the gage factor and investigations of its physical integrity and temperature stability.

AB  - The construction sector is responsible for approximately 39% of energy use and process-related carbon dioxide emissions. Mixing waste materials into concrete, as a substitute for cement 
and/or aggregate, increases energy efficiency and sustainability in general. Additionally, pressure 
on the environment is decreasing by reducing the amount of exploitation of natural raw materials. 
On the other hand, the rapid progress of the electronic industry has led to the generation of a large 
amount of electrical waste before the end of its useful life. Disposal of old monitors and TV screens, i.e. their cathode-ray tubes (CRT), represents a major problem for the environment because CRT waste is classified as hazardous due to its high lead content. This paper deals with an overview of investigations on CRT waste utilization in cement materials in order to increase sustainability and encourage a circular economy in the construction sector.

AB  - In this research, tests of mortar and porous concrete made with solidified waste water treatment sludge (SWWTS) used in two forms as a partial replacement of cement were carried out. SWWTS mainly consisted out of CaCO3 and Ca(OH)2, having no pozzolanic properties. For this reason, it was used both, as produced, and modified by adding Al2O3 and Mg3Si4O10(OH)2 in certain percentages. One mortar type and two types of porous concrete were tested. For each of the three products two mixtures were prepared: the reference mixture and the mixture made with 30% replacement of cement, while the other components remained the same. Based on the given comparative analysis, conclusions were drawn regarding the structure of porous concrete slabs, which refer to individual analyzed properties, but also to the possibility of applying energy-efficient materials. The obtained results point to the conclusion that the use of SWWTS reduces the values of almost all tested properties of porous concrete (flexural and compressive strength, pull-off strength, abrasion resistance), but also that the modification of SWWTS led to a smaller difference in the results of the samples made with 30% of cement replacement and the reference samples. Although, the use of SWWTS led to the reduction of mechancal properties of concretes, the most important benefit is development of possible way for reuse of this waste material and avoid its disposal in the landfills.

AB  - Utilization possibilities of solidified fractions of industrial hazardous waste obtained by mixing
with inert materials in construction were investigated. Waste mineral oils, water-hydrocarbon
emulsions mixture, and waste filter cakes from the physico-chemical treatment of wastewater
generated by washing of patterned rollers for a printing machine, were used as models of
industrial hazardous waste in the solidification process. Investigation comprised preparation of
concrete and asphalt mixtures for further testing. The solidified powder was analyzed regarding
the granulometric composition, while the obtained concrete samples were further subjected
to compressive strength determination, whereas the asphalt mixtures were tested in the
context of potential waterproofing materials. According to the obtained leaching test results,
all the samples met the required conditions for further application. Compressive strength test
results were in the range of 8.7 – 22.6 MPa. Still, the measured compressive strength values
were lower than expected, which is explained using solidified powder fractions of smaller grain
size. According to the results, it can be concluded that the investigated mixtures cannot be used
for structural building elements, but their usage is recommended for elements such as
pavements, roadside, path cubes, concrete haberdashery, etc. Asphalt mixtures showed
acceptable properties in terms of mechanical, durability, and waterproofing tests.
AB  - Ispitivane su mogućnosti korišćenja solidifikovanih frakcija industrijskog opasnog otpada dobijenog njegovim mešanjem sa inertnim materijalima u građevinarstvu. Kao predstavnici industrijskog opasnog otpada u procesu solidifikacije korišćena su otpadna mineralna ulja, mešavina vodeno-ugljovodonične emulzije i otpadne filter pogačeiz fizičko-hemijskog tretmana otpadnih voda nastalih pranjem dezen valjaka na mašini za štampanje. Istraživanje je podrazumevalo pripremu betona i asfaltne mešavine za dalja ispitivanja. Utvrđen je granulometrijski sastav solidifikovanog praha, uzorci betona su dalje podvrgnuti određivanju čvrstoće na pritisak, a asfaltne mešavine su ispitivane u kontekstu hidroizolacionih materijala. Prema dobijenim rezultatima ispitivanja luženja, svi uzorci su ispunjavali potrebne uslove za dalju primenu. Rezultati ispitivanja čvrstoće na pritisak bili su u opsegu od 8,7 – 22,6 MPa. Izmerene vrednosti čvrstoće na pritisak bile su niže od očekivanih, što se objašnjava upotrebom solidifikovanih frakcija manje granulacije. Na osnovu dobijenih rezultata može se zaključiti da se ispitivane mešavine ne mogu koristiti za konstruktivne građevinske elemente, te se preporučuje njihova upotreba za građevinske elemente kao što su trotoari, ivičnjaci, kocke za staze, betonska galanterija i dr. Asfaltne mešavine su pokazale prihvatljiva svojstva u pogledu mehaničkih, ispitivanja izdržljivosti i hidroizolacije.

AB  - This research evaluates the effects of the acid environment on sulfur-polymer composite. For this
purpose, a morphology investigation consisting of mathematical morphology analysis and SEM
analysis was performed Based on the obtained results, insignificant changes in the pore system of
sulfur-polymer composite in terms of deterioration, pore distribution, and homogeneity were
observed. Namely, no signs of severe damage were detected at the surface and inside the samples.
With increasing the acid exposure time, the material exhibited further changes in the direction of
homogenization and drowning of the aggregate in the sulfur binder compared with the starting
structure. These facts indicate that sulfur-polymer composite can be effectively used as a
construction material in an acid environment.

AB  - The increased number of water treatment plants induces intensified production of water treatment sludge (WTS) that needs to be stabilized and reused. One of the possible stabilization processes is solidification, which involves the reaction of wastes with additives based on calcium-oxide and calcium-hydroxide. The final product of these reactions (solidified water treatment sludge - SWTS) is an inert material that can be used as a filler, but not as a supplementary cementitious mate-rial (SCM) - due to its insufficient pozzolanic activity. The paper presents the possibilities of application of modified SWTS (MSWTS) as a SCM when mixed with aluminium-oxide and magnesium-silicate. In order to achieve this, mortar mixtures were prepared with partial replacement of cement by using MSWTS in amounts of 10%, 20% and 30%. Flexural and compressive strength tests, togeth-er with ultrasonic pulse velocity, as well as with capillary water absorption and freeze-thaw resistance were performed. The obtained results point to the conclu-sion that the increase in the percentage content of MSWTS consequently led to a decrease in the mechanical properties of the tested samples, which limits the pos-sible cement percentage replacement in plasters.  The decrease in flexural strength ranged between 3% and 8% and in compressive strength between 8% and 19%.

Determinationof the salt distribution in the lime-based mortar samples using XRF and SEM-EDX characterization

AB  - Although, the salt crystallization is one of the most common causes of the deterioration of lime-based mortars, testing of their resistance to the soluble salt action has not yet been standardized. The problems following the development of the globally accepted testing method are, among others: defining the type of mortar samples, ways of samples’ contamination, the type and the concentration of the salt solutions used, environmental conditions during testing, determination of the damage development and the durability assessment. Another task of the testing method is to explain and connect the processes developing in the materials when they are applied in laboratory and real conditions. In this paper, soluble salt resistance testing of lime mortars on the composite samples is presented. The main focus of the paper is on the determination of the salt distribution in this type of samples after the five wetting and drying cycles. Samples consisted of two lime rendering layers (inner – 1/3 and outer -1/1), both prepared according to the experiences found in the literature for these types of lime mortars when applied on historical structures, placed on the natural stone bases. They were cured in laboratory conditions for 90 days, before drying and exposing to soluble salts action. Two types of 10% salt solutions were used for the test: sodium-chloride and sodium-sulfate. Salt contamination was performed by capillary action only in the first cycle, while in the other cycles samples were wetted by deionized water. After the finalization of the cycles, the detached pieces of mortar and efflorescence were removed from the samples. One of the samples from both groups were then cut in two halves, from which one was used for X-Ray Fluorescence (XRF) and another for Scanning Electron Microscopy with Energy Dispersive X-Ray Analysis (SEM – EDX) characterization. For the XRF analysis samples were divided into four layers, and then crushed and sieved through 0.5 mm sieve before testing. For the SEM-EDX analysis the polished thick cross sections were prepared. The paper presents the results of these two analyses, and discusses the advantages and disadvantages of their application for this purpose. Mineralogical analysis of the samples was performed using XRD analysis. It was shown that XRF analysis provides more precise quantification of the elements within one sample, while SEM-EDX analysis gives possibilities for testing of layers with smaller depth within one cross – section.

They were cured in laboratory conditions for 90 days, before drying and exposing to soluble salts action. Two types of 10% salt solutions were used for the test: sodium-chloride and sodium-sulfate. Salt contamination was performed by capillary action only in the first cycle, while in the other cycles samples were wetted by deionized water. After the finalization of the cycles, the detached pieces of mortar and efflorescence were removed from the samples. One of the samples from both groups were then cut in two halves, from which one was used for X-Ray Fluorescence (XRF) and another for Scanning Electron Microscopy with Energy Dispersive X-Ray Analysis (SEM – EDX) characterization. For the XRF analysis samples were divided into four layers, and then crushed and sieved through 0.5 mm sieve before testing. For the SEM-EDX analysis the polished thick cross sections were prepared. The paper presents the results of these two analyses, and discusses the advantages and disadvantages of their application for this purpose. Mineralogical analysis of the samples was performed using XRD analysis. It was shown that XRF analysis provides more precise quantification of the elements within one sample, while SEM-EDX analysis gives possibilities for testing of layers with smaller depth within one cross – section.",

AB  - Since depletion of natural resources and the amount of construction and demolition waste have overcome the socially and environmentally acceptable level, the construction industry must address this issue and reduce its impact on the environment. A step towards sustainability in the construction industry is the application of recycled aggregates and supplementary cementitious materials as integral components of concretes, which provides conserving natural aggregates and waste reduction. This study adopts a holistic approach to producing green self-compacting concrete with the highest portion of recycled aggregate as a replacement for natural aggregate and fly ash as filler. Based on the particle packing density method, four series of self-compacting concrete were prepared: the first series was made with natural fine and coarse aggregate, the second series was made with fine natural aggregate and recycled coarse aggregate, the third with 50 % (by mass) of fine natural aggregate replaced by recycled fine aggregate and recycled coarse aggregate, and the fourth series completely with recycled fine and coarse aggregate. The content of fly ash remained constant. Regardless of the expected decrease of workability in a fresh state with the increase of the recycled aggregate content, all series exceeded the requirements set for the hardened structural concrete.

AB  - With the aim of sustainable development of the construction industry, a large number of theoretical and practical research is currently being carried out on the possibilities of using various recycled materials in cement composites. The paper presents one possibility of designing the composition of a mortar-type composite made with recycled aggregate and fly ash. In order to improve the properties of the recycled aggregate, sodium silicate was used. The investigated properties included in the fresh state: density and consistency, measured by the flow-table method, and in the hardened state: density, flexural strength and compressive strength. The mixture made with sodium silicate and with recycled aggregate showed the lowest bulk density in the fresh state, and the stiffest consistency. In the hardened state, the mentioned mixture had the highest values of flexural strength and compressive strength, with the lowest value of density.

AB  - Presented research was intentioned to clarify the effects of thermal treatment (ageing) of reinforcing steel products on their mechanical and deformation properties. In order to determine the effect of temperature, samples were exposed to room temperature (reference samples) and a temperature of 100 °C in duration of 30, 60 and 120 minutes, respectively. Tests were conducted on bars, coils and welded fabrics. After the thermal treatment, samples were exposed to tensile testing. The duration of the ageing treatment did not significantly affect measured properties of the tested products. Still, longer ageing process increased the yield stress of samples taken from coils by 7%, while the welded fabrics reached optimum values of yield stress and elongation after ageing of 60 minutes.

AB  - Adopting sustainability in the construction industry emerged as crucial to achieving the United Na-tions Global Goals for Sustainable Development (SDGs). Rapid growth in the construction sector strains raw material resources such as natural aggregates (NA), possibly leading to their depletion. Furthermore, the growth of construction and demolition waste (CDW) intensifies the global issue of waste management as one of the largest waste streams worldwide. Since concrete is the main constit-uent of CDW, its recycling as aggregate (RCA) emerges as a prominent solution to the above-mentioned problems. On the other hand, potentially hazardous disposal of end-of-life tyres (ELTs) is another increasing waste problem. Incorporating recycled tyre rubber in concrete mixtures as a sub-stitute for natural aggregates is one possible solution. This paper aims to give some insights into the possibility of using crumb rubber (CR) and recycled concrete aggregate (RCA) as alternative aggre-gates in self-compacting concrete (SCC) mixtures. For that purpose, the physical and mechanical properties of prepared SCC mixtures with CR and RCA were evaluated by tests performed on fresh and hardened concrete.

AB  - The subject of the experimental tests presented in the paper is the influence of the mixing method on the physical and mechanical properties of fine-grained concrete with the nominally largest aggregate grain of 8 mm. Concretes with three different aggregate compositions (river, crushed and mixture with coarse recycled aggregate) were mixed using the usual approach, and then two-stage mixing approach (TSMA). Slump and flow, density and temperature were tested on fresh concrete. The compressive strength, flexural, splitting tensile strength, density, ultrasonic pulse velocity, and water absorption was recorded on hardened concrete. Concretes prepared using recycled aggregate, according to all the mentioned tests, can be used as an adequate replacement for concretes prepared using river or crushed aggregate, while the two-phase approach had the greatest effect on the increase of the splitting tensile strength.

AB  - U radu je prikazana ocena stanja armiranobetonske (AB) konstrikcije primenom nedestruktivnih i destruktivnih in-situ metoda ispitivanja. Analziriana je zavisnost rezultata dobijenih primenom pomenutih metoda u skladu sa važećom tehničkom regulativom. Za AB grede i stubove kod kojih nije ostvarena projektovana marka betona dati su primeri sprovedenih sanacionih mera. U prikazanim primerima detaljno su opisani svi relevantni aspekti praktične pirmene sprovedenih sanacionih mera karbonskim trakama i betoniranjem.

AB  - The results of comparative testing of porous lightweight aggregate concrete made with various percentages of neutral as a partial replacement of cement are presented in this paper. Neutral represents non-hazardous, inert and solidified material obtained after the treatment of industrial waste materials that have further use value. Four types of prefabricated cavernous concrete flags with different percentages of cement replacement with neutral (0, 10, 20 and 30%) were tested regarding the following properties: density, compressive strength, tensile strength, frost resistance, hydraulic conductivity and thermal conductivity coefficient.

AB  - Wave energy is largely an unused resource for generating electricity, where it is converted into electricity through kinetic energy. There are a number of advantages to adopting this solution. Two of the most important are: the appearance of the sea coast is not disturbed by various objects, and the seabed is not polluted. Exploitation begins immediately after placing the device in the sea. The possibility of using concrete as a construction material for these purposes is discussed in the paper. The basic principles of designing the composition of concrete for these conditions are given and the characteristic details that should be taken into account for these specific structures are discussed.

AB  - This paper has the intention to determine the benefits of using industrial hemp as a constructive material in the modern construction industry, with emphasis on Hempcrete as a substitute for conventional building materials. This paper also reviews the current global environmental situation as a serious problem, which one of the main creators is the modern construction industry, and the possibilities of using Hempcrete as a building material, whose main ingredient is industrial hemp. Also, this paper analyzes the methodology of creating this composite material and its possibilities in construction, and the possible construction methods.
